CoopColbie Posted January 25, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Hi. I'm on a cruise at the end of the year that is stopping at Port Arthur. I understand that we will be tendered to a jetty within the historic site itself, but I'm wondering whether it is easy enough to leave the historic site in order to walk over to Point Puer, and then return to the historic site to get back on the tender to get back on the ship. Will they give us 'tickets' to show that we have paid our entry into the site, and will those tickets allow us to return to the site after exploring further afield? PerfectlyPerth Posted January 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2018 My understanding last time I was there is the only entry is via an actual tour https://portarthur.org.au/tour/not-for-the-puer/
GUT2407 Posted February 13, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2018 We have walked to point puer, but it’s a fair old hike way too far or most with only a day visit and that was before it was open to the public. Last year we were driven to the main gate of that section and then permitted to walk the rest of the way, still a long hike. But that all took special permission. By far the best way is the organised tour by ferry.
GUT2407 Posted February 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Pretty sure anyone without permission would be tresspassing and if caught would face some consequences. For most even leaving the paths will get you chatted.
GUT2407 Posted February 13, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2018 I wasn’t asked to show a ticket when I returned, but thy may have noticed who our driver was, I don’t know for sure, I was dropped at the main entry to Port Arthur, walked straight in and waited while they went back for Mrs Gut.
