konazo Posted January 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2018 We have been to Athens previously and just wanted to go into the Plaka area and walk around... the ship transfer is $60pp. There will be 3 ships in port so wondering if it would be hard to get on the HOHO bus from Pireaus and then for return. We've been to several ports where it is really hard to get back on once you get off. Does anyone have experience with Athens HOHO with multiple ships in port? Also looking at Niki Olympic Tours which does a short tour and then drops you off for 4 hr free time on own http://www.olympictours.gr/shore-excursions/joined/piraeus/athens-experience Has anyone used this company before and would recommend?? Thanks for your input.
rdt10 Posted January 27, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Taxis run about 20€ each way and have been plentiful on our visits to Athens. There are several taxi stands around the Plaka area for the return to port.

Casey2 Posted February 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2018 There is a bus I think it's the X80 that goes from the pier to Athens. It stops at Syntagma Square and the Acropolis. You can walk to the Plaka from either stop. It wis much less expensive than taxis each way.

rdt10 Posted March 11, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Is there decent shopping in Plaka? Or what is there to do there? Mostly tourist shopping and restaurants. There is a Harris cotton outlet that has decent prices on cotton clothes. Several jewelry stores. A few blocks over by Syntagma Square is Ermou street with stores like Marks & Spencer, Zara, Sephora.
