Cabin Charges: US Dollars or 'Home' Currency

How does NCL process on board charges for cruises departing from Miami? Do they bill in US dollars or in your home currency? On our last cruise, Princess tried to bill us in our home currency at an exchange rate that could only be described as exhorbitant (about 5 points higher that our cc rate).

All charges are in US dollars.
