Czmzlz Posted February 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2018 We are booked on POA sailing Sep 1 this year in a cabin with a large balcony, starboard, 9th deck. I just saw a YouTube video of the equivalent of our cabin and the balcony seemed like a dark metal cave :o. Can someone who has stayed in a cabin with the large balcony tell me if that is how it seemed to them, or was it just the lighting etc in the video maybe? I'm thinking about switching to a Small balcony that seems more open, but we are sailing with another couple who have an ocean view, and I pictured the 4 of us hanging out on the balcony - that couldn't happen with a small balcony. Plus prices appear to have gone up, so I'd be paying about the same for the small balcony that we paid for the large one. Any help would be appreciated! Rare BirdTravels Posted February 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Given that you are in port every day (dawn to dusk) and two nights, there is not a lot of balcony time on the cruise. Unless you plan to stay on the ship and miss the beauty and grandeur of Hawaii, which you are paying a premium price for. You’ll be fine. Enjoy Hawaii, it is our favorite location. Czmzlz Posted February 17, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Thanks! We are definitely going to be ashore as much as possible, but we're early risers so I'm planning on being on the balcony early in the day.

Sloppy Sue Posted February 19, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Just got off the POA and was in a room on 11 with a large balcony. It was fantastic...very spacious and had good views. You might have to lean over the rail a tiny bit to see to the extreme sides, but definitely stick with the large balcony. I read somewhere that if you find once you're in your room that you don't have the 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a table that you just need to ask for them

pizzalady1 Posted March 24, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 24, 2018 We were in 9702 which is a large balcony, aft. The balcony was large enough for two lounge chairs and about a two foot round table, then two chairs with about a 1 foot square table. It did not feel like a tunnel. tempus137 Posted March 25, 2018 #15 Share Posted March 25, 2018 I read somewhere that if you find once you're in your room that you don't have the 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a table that you just need to ask for them We were in 9522 December 2015. The balcony is fantastic. When we got to the cabin, the balcony only had 2 chairs & a table. We asked the steward for lounges, and they were there by the time we got back from dinner. If I remember, the balcony was not really of enclosed, but definitely not a deal-breaker.
