We have the opposite to arriving early. Our documents state that boarding time in Dubai is 12 noon. We want to meet up with some friends there. What is the latest boarding time?

Also do Regent permit visitors onboard on sailing day?

Your documents should tell you when "all aboard is". Generally an hour or so before sailing.

As for friends, you need to get this approved by Regent months before the cruise. You have to fill out forms and provide passport numbers, etc.

Greetings, Everyone from South Beach, where the weather is just wonderful today. When we flew into Kai Tak to join cruise ship The Pearl in 1992-93, we could actually see people having dinner. They were so used to this that nobody seemed to notice. Our flights arrived quite late, and we were surprised that even children were dining at that time. Later, we discovered that hordes of people shopped in the Night Market, a place that opened at midnight back then. I thought the heat during the day encouraged the switch to later hours for shopping.

We loved Hong Kong. On our first cruise from there, we had the most unusual embarkation. We stayed the Omni Hotel right on the water, very close to the Star Ferry Terminal. On the night before embarkation, we were instructed to have our bags outside of our rooms in the morning. At a certain time, we were to gather in the lobby. Upon arrival there we saw The Pearl right outside. Since The Pearl carried fewer that 400 passengers, there was no crowding. In small groups, we just walked out onto a balcony and through a door. Formalities took place at Reception. It felt a tad unusual to have our Muster right under the hotel we had just vacated. Our departure was wonderful. As we sailed by the Star Ferry, the Captain's of both vessels sounded an elaborate salute, as did other ships that we passed. The sound of a ship's horn at the start of a cruise is one of my favorite sounds. That afternoon my ears had a feast. It was also fun when Explorer and Mariner passed each other during last Spring's TA. Lots of mighty toots.

Mary
