nsync Posted February 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2018 Hi. I booked a cruise and paid the deposit with a credit card before I heard about the AARP gift cards. Has anyone called Carnival to refund the credit card and pay the deposit with a gift card instead? Can this be done online? Thank you for your help :)
coevan Posted February 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2018 no way, but you can use the gift cards for everything else. We paid our Cheers with gift cards.
macsandy1957 Posted February 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2018 Yes, I've done it many times with no problems!
firemanbobswife Posted February 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2018 You can call Carnival and have them do it as long as it's not for final payment. Once that's made it can't be undone. I do it all the time. One call to my PVP and it's handled.
BookDragon Posted February 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2018 But I’m using a TA. Is it possible to be refunded and then pay the deposit with gcs if using a TA?

As firemanbobswife said there is no reason it can't be done. But you will have to speak with your TA rather than call Carnival. If you are booked through a TA Carnival can't do anything with your booking.
SNJCruisers Posted February 22, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 22, 2018 Yes. There is no reason why they shouldn't be able to do it. As firemanbobswife said there is no reason it can't be done. But you will have to speak with your TA rather than call Carnival. If you are booked through a TA Carnival can't do anything with your booking. There is a scenario where it can't be done because I wanted to do it on my two upcoming Horizon cruises and it would not work. I had placed my initial deposits using an AMEX card that I had for over 30 years and within the past year I had gotten rid of it. My TA could not refund me the deposit money because the credit card that I had used was no longer valid. It ended up costing me 100 in savings because of the 1000 in deposits for the two cruises. It just gives me more money set aside for one of the LNG ships in a few years. :)
