Hi! It's been a few years since we were in Grand Caymanl. My friend is coming with us on our Horizon cruise, and she said she wants to find some clear, "pretty" water. I can't remember how clear the water was or how the snorkeling was. I do remember Eden Rock being pretty good snorkeling, but we haven't been there in almost 10 years. We are looking for some fun things to do that also include some time on a great beach with good snorkeling. Can anyone weigh in? We are open to options and suggestions. ;) Thank you!

Google "Grand Cayman Beaches"...tons of options will pop up. 7 Mile Beach is very clear...but not so great for snorkeling.....but if there is something to see, you can see it from above...that's how clear it is! No need for a snorkel mask!

The Cayman water is clear everywhere we have been, for the reason stated by zdcatc12. When we stay on the island, our two favorite beaches to snorkel from are Smith's Cove/Embarcadero and Rum Point. Rum Point is a bit far, but has chairs you can use for free and food and drink is available. Smith's Cove has restrooms and showers, but no other facilities. Cemetery Beach (along 7 Mile Beach) is not crowded and is nice, but no facilities at all. Otherwise, Eden Rock still has good snorkeling and you will see a lot of fish and maybe a turtle (we have) but some of the reef there was damaged a few years ago by a Russian barge. Still plenty to see though. We were there last May/June.

Cemetery reef is swimming distance from cemetery beach. The reef was in good shape last time we were there and with little traffic it probably will remain so. It’s very quiet and there is a bus stop right at the pathway leading down to the beach. There are no facilities so take what you need. Much of the sand is shaded as well.
