I totally agree. In fact, my partner and I have 3 CCs with no foreign transaction charges. Not likely to lose all three. Plus, if one doesn't work or gets lost we have a backup. Most places accept them these days and much easier than safer than messing around with loads of different currencies.

I am currently awaiting delivery of a Halifax Clarity card. We have always simply used one of our usual credit cards, but intend to keep this one just for travelling. The fee free aspect is very attractive.

 

As well as that we’ll simply take a few hundred dollars or euros cash, depending on the itinerary.
