Shetland Island Currency and suggestions for tours

We'll be spending a day on Shetland Islands on our cruise. I'm looking for things to do either on our own or with a tour operator.

Any/all suggestions would be appreciated.

If we decide to do things on our own, will we need pounds or will they accept a credit card for most things. Thank you in advance.

Shetland Islands is Pounds. Most places will accept credit cards but it would be handy to have a little cash, perhaps for coffee etc.

We are also visiting Shetland and really looking forward to it. There is a thread entitled Shetland islands, last visited 3rd February. Loads of info, I found it really useful.

There is a programme on BBC at the moment, a police drama set in Shetland. If you live in UK you may get it on the I-Player. Wonderful scenery. If you have time visit the Shetland Folk Museum. A walk or taxi ride from the harbour.
