Questions for recent Volendam cruisers (since December 2017)

Recommended Posts

We're booked on Volendam next winter. I was wondering if the hairdryer is still that awful thing on the wall in the bathroom with the tube that looks like a vaccuum cleaner tube, or if they're supplying a real hand held blow dryer now?

Also, do the obstructed view cabins on lower promenade deck still have tubs, or just a shower? (I know the lanais got the shower.)

I'm sure I'll think of more burning questions ;) as the cruise gets closer.

Thank you in advance! :D

We were on the Volendam Feb. 2018

Bathroom did NOT have the "tube" hairdryer, Dresser had hairdryer in a blue drawstring pouch, a magnifying mirror was in another blue drawstring pouch.

Our inside cabin had updated bathroom, with shower.

We had also been on the Volendam last April/May -

Thanks, CJcruzer :D

Anyone who had a recent category H on Volendam, can you tell me if the bathroom has a tub or just a shower?

Do the cabins have the new larger flat panel TVs, or still the little ones?

sent an email to a fellow cruiser who is still on the Volendam - I believe they may have had an OV cabin.

We had both types of hairdryer — our bathroom was not refurbished during dry dock. Our cruise was this January.

We were on the Volendam in January after the dry dock in an obstructed view cabin (3316) . The bathroom was new with a big shower with glass screen, no tub.

The TV hadn't been updated.

Hope that helps :)

Almost certain to be the old silver 20" LG TVs from circa 2010 (I already asked in another post).

Worse than I thought - not only are the TVs the old ones, they're also NOT widescreen. Gah!

We were on in March for 28 days in a vista suite. No updated bathroom. Still had wall mounted hair dryer and a hair dryer in desk drawer in sitting area.

Old style swivel tv w/dvd player. New curtians in room at balcony door, hallway and sitting area.

The library still existed minus librarian.

We found the ship in great condition with a very happy crew!

We were in code red for 16 days and felt bad for the crew having to pull extra cleaning duty.

That's interesting that you were in an HH with the bathroom update. Nothing that I have been able to find from Holland America specifically includes that class of cabin in their bathroom updates. I'm in an HH on the other end of the ship next week so I can confirm then. I'm not against the bathroom update but just means a change in plans to bathe my 3 year old ;)

But at least I know I can pack some DVD's for DD to watch.
