Anthem Feb. 25 to Mar. 9

Recommended Posts

This is not an in depth review, just some comments. We are a married couple in early to mid 70s.

First time on RCCL but 8th cruise. We have done 3 on Celebrity (Equinox, Infinity, Summit); 2 on Oceania Marina; 2 on HAL (Statendam, which they have since sold, and Zuiderdam).

All our cruises have been on smaller or much smaller ships than Anthem, with a somewhat older demographic. We were apprehensive about Anthem because of this and also because of many negative things we've read on CC.

We booked this because we live in NYC and wanted a Winter cruise that did not require flying.

What we found was a beautiful ship, very clean and well maintained.

Outstanding service in cabin and exceptional service in eating venues. Mostly very good food.

Mostly terrific entertainment. Lots of interesting activities. We are ballroom dancers and this is the only ship we have been on where there was recorded ballroom music for 1 to 1 1/2 hours in the early evening in the music hall - nice dance floor. And Latin dancing most nights in Boleros.

A nice group of passengers. No noise in the corridor outside our cabin, no rudeness, nice children although there weren't many, no rowdy drunks.

People in wheelchairs, scooters, walkers were deferred to on elevators. And none of them ran anyone down.

Good excursions, all booked through RC.

No hawking of merchandise on sale in royal esplanade. Only 1 person 1 day at lunch asked us once about booking dinner in Wonderland restaurant. Asked a moderate amount about having photo taken but they weren't pushy about it.

Only real issue was that game shows in the music hall and some shows in 270 were extremely crowded but we learned early on we had to get there early if we wanted to get a good seat.

It was a lovely, enjoyable cruise.

So glad you enjoyed your cruise and thank you so much for coming back to tell us what you thought! My husband and I are taking our first RCCL cruise on the Anthem in May and have become a bit concerned about the Anthem in particular and Royal as a line by some of the comments I've found on CC. But it's nice to read that someone actually enjoyed their cruise!

How early did you have to get to the shows that you needed no reservation for?We will be on the anthem April 21st.

We were on this cruise as well and enjoyed the trip. Did notice one issue on the last night in the My Time Dining: 3 security guards rushed in to one of the rooms opposite ours not sure what was happening but did see on Fri morning in New jersey while we were waiting for our ride a older gentlemen escorted out by the Police in Handcuffs not sure what he did

Our third time on The Awesome Anthem will be in May. We obviously really like the ship and everything about her! Everyone has their own opinion, which is fine. After about 15 cruises, really never had a bad cruise. Enjoy.
