Well we are officially done with vacation, currently waiting to board in Tampa. The last 24+ hours on the ship were apparent not meant for WiFi or Cruise Critic, or the combination. It was all but impossible for me to connect and post on here so I finally gave up!

Our last day at GSC was awesome. I really like that island, better to me than Harvest Cay. There were loungers for days and the water was great. We ate tacos and really liked them. Tendering was very easy. I will definitely come back to GSC again.

Cirque Dreams was great. We had the premium seating because that is all they had left, but I think the standard seating might have been really good, too. The acts were amazing - think awesome circus acts. I decided the only way to describe it is when they were casting for it, they just said “okay, show me what cool stuff you can do” and then built a show around all of it. The food was actually good, too. They cook all steaks medium but they were still very tender and tasty. fcd7875dee2499fb76bc8966caa7e41c.jpg

Parting thoughts on the week...

The ship - having the Escape, which I love, as a comparison, the Epic was just okay for me.

Bathrooms-Yes, the bathroom layout is weird, but we knew that going into it. It was more an annoyance than anything else.

Ship flow-The overall layout and flow of the ship was a bit weird for me. I think if decks 5-6-7 are going to be that main area, you should be able to access all three decks from the aft and forward stairs. The port side aft stairs take you to crew access only on deck 5. After a week I still could not remember where everything was on those decks except for O’Shees.

Elevators-Having only 2 sets of elevators, fore and aft, was fine with the stairs/elevators in the center.

Casino-The casino is gigantic so if you want to avoid the smoke (really only bad at night), go across on deck 7. The night we ate at Taste we were seated in the center section that you look down on and I went to bed that night with my eyes stinging. Smoke basically doesn’t bother me unless it is directly in my face but that night it was a bit much.

Pool deck-The two pools in the main pool area were tiny and they were packed with kids the entire week. I only get in the pool if it’s super hot so that’s just an observation. Not surprising on spring break. Loungers are plentiful on the Epic but on a sold out sailing, most chairs around the pool were reserved by 8 am. Spice was very crowded, too, but not so much reserving of chairs there. That pool is itty bitty but the adults just use it to cool off as opposed to play.

Entertainment-Loved Pricilla and Cirque Dreams. Bowling was really fun (bowled 3 times) even though it takes a whole new level of coordinated to bowl when the seas are rough!

People-For the most part everyone was really nice. We never ran into any obnoxious drunk college kids, or adults for that matter. Not saying no drunk people, just no problem drunk people.

Staff-We ran into all bunch of super nice staff members. Our stateroom attendant Norman was awesome. Julie in Cagneys and Nestor at the Spice H2O Bar were also great and helped make the trip fun.

Ports-Grand Cayman is always a good place to visit, although all stingray excursions were cancelled because of the seas that day. Obviously I loved GSC. I don’t care for Falmouth just because it’s such a long drive to get anywhere! Tendering was efficient at both of those stops.

Bars-Loved Maltings and Shakers. The pool bar was always crowded and you had to wait to get a drink for a few minutes. Shocking, right? I was amazed at how many people complained about that with 5,000 other people on board. It was never more than a few minutes wait.

Slides-Super fun! Aidan and I did all 3 after GSC and the bowl slide wins hands down.

Food-Garden Cafe was always great for breakfast and good for lunch. No complaints there. O’Shees is good bar food. The speciality restaurants were all fantastic!

We played a little “Majority Rules” (lost) and then tried a little black jack (I lost, Kevin’s still at it). I’m now at Howl At The Moon. Might be my favorite entertainment on the ship!ac4199e9b1a125bf7b1bf90ebdb8036c.jpg

My daughter had a major crush on the pianist on the right- Branden? Justin? Can’t remember , but he was on 3 different cruises we did. Would love if he stays on Epic until June!
