Kayaking in Alaska

I've never kayaked before but what better place to start[emoji3]. We will be in Juneau, Haines, Icy Straight and Ketchican in May. Any advise on which ports and which companies are best for kayaking would be greatly appreciated.

I can't speak for the other ports but I used Southeast Seas Kayak (http://www.kayakketchikan.com) on my last Alaska cruise in 2014 and had a great time instead of booking a different company through the ship. My husband and I never kayaked before and it went really well. We did luck out with some amazing weather and no one else booked on our tour (their groups are may 8 or 6 depending on the tour).

 

We are going back next month and I've booked the same tour.

I second this recommendation. We did their Orcas Cove tour last July. We had 5 in our group, so ended up with a private tour. We had a fabulous time! The cruise was a graduation trip for my youngest, so this was a special day for my kids and me.

We went with Southeast as well in 2016. While it did start to rain during our tour, we still enjoyed it and were the only two on the tour (early May)! They were very gracious and I would recommend them.

We used Southeast Kayaks in Ketchikan last May and were happy as well. We still had time afterwards to see Creek Street, the fish Ladder and do some shopping.
