Rare graphicguy Posted April 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Diamonds International Stores (DI) are ubiquitous throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas. Prices are more or less the same in all of them, regardless of port. They have an agreement with the Cruise companies, who it’s rumored (pretty strongly) get a kickback from passengers who buy something from any of their stores while in port. Biggest issue I ave with them is the fact you have little recourse if something goes sideways once you’re back home. They say things like watches have international warranties, but jewelry that proves defective is a different story, as you’ll have to send it back to DI. Prices aren’t a whole lot different than a reputable jewelry store state side. And, not so certain their diamond ratings are as reliable as those in a well known store at home. Biggest advantage is you don’t pay tax on your purchases. And yes....”high pressure”. You’ll be hounded as soon as you enter through the doors of the stores. cruzeluver Posted April 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2018 I don't shop ANYWHERE on the cruise line recommended list. Has worked out great. DI is so highly recommended by the cruise lines due to the kickbacks they receive. That is all.
