AOS Empty One Night Before May 11 2018 Sailing?

Hi all!

 

This I find interesting: The Adventure of the Seas sailing, departing San Juan on May 5th, is a 5 night sailing debarking in Cape Liberty, Bayonne NJ on Thursday May 10th. We sail on Friday May 11th out of Bayonne.

 

So...who's "In the Know"? I can speculate myself....does anyone REALLY know why?

 

A one night scheduled layover with no passengers...hmmmm. I saw a person on our roll call say they are doing a B2B, but spending the one night in New York City and then re-boarding.

 

I am hoping that this would mean cabins are ready when we board and the ship will be nice and ship shape!

I noticed that as well. I figured they were just going to have a down day to get set up for sailing from Cape Liberty. Folks checking in online for Adventure are being asked for pictures, which sounds like they might be using the Anthem checkin process with iPads, pictures, and Seapass cards in the room, which I think would be a completely new checkin process for Adventure. This might require a "tech" day to make sure it works properly.

 

Adventure is sailing 7 day itineraries leaving on Friday until the end of August.

Wow! That totally makes sense as I read that this would be the first time they were using the new check-in system too. It was so fast on Anthem last year! If this is the reason...I am soooo glad they are having a tech day...the day before...cause it could also spell disaster for the first time using it too.

If they are using the new checkin procedure, I can't imagine that Adventure would be set up already to ensure that it would work for a repo cruise arriving at 6-7 am with new passengers arriving at 10-10:30 am and all the seapass cards properly staged at the staterooms. On Anthem you have to use your setsail pass to charge things until the rooms are opened up. I'm sure there are shipside considerations there as well.

 

It will be a huge satisfier if they can use the new system. One if the most mentioned comments about Anthem sailings is how fast the embarkation process is.

That sounds like fun! Basically a well-traveled adult crowd with very little luggage who want to eat, drink, and gamble. Probably not a 104% filled ship either.

I had an invite to board for the one night, and I'm not a TA or media. The ship isn't sailing anywhere, it's staying in port for the night. Shops and casino will be closed.

 

I couldn't accept as I'll be on Anthem at the time.

That makes a lot of sense Gayle. They can check out a lot of things if the ship is docked. Why waste the fuel if it's basically a promo for TA's to inspect the ship. I envision an enormous cabin crawl that could take hours to complete! There appear to be 30+ cabin categories to see, many of which are just variations of insides, ocean views, and balconies. However Adventure does have the wonderful Voyager class aft balconies.

I'm not a TA and I know others that were invited and they aren't TA's either. We all live close to port are are D+ and above.
