Boscodog Posted May 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2018 (edited) We are looking at Chilkoot Tours for the Yukon Excursion. The choices are to take the bus both ways or a bus/train combo. The cost for the bus/train combo is $190 per person and the cost of the bus is $103.00 per person. The itinerary seems similar. Is it worth the extra cost to take the train. We are already taking a train from Anchorage to Seward before the cruise. Thanks Karen Edited May 2, 2018 by Boscodog Add additional info
Kamloops50 Posted May 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2018 The train and bus use different routes to get to Fraser. It's definatelay worth the extra .
jimsig Posted May 3, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2018 The views on the train are so much different then what you would get on just the road. The train/bus combo is like 2 different trips. With the bus only you get the same trip up and back as there is only one road.
Eaglecw Posted May 3, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2018 I'd do the bus up and the train back down. We've done it many times and have enjoyed it every time. A little hint sit on the right side of the bus and the train, you see more on the right side. Does the Chilkoot Tour excursion your looking at go to Caribou crossing for lunch? Actually, the best viewing location on the train is the platform between the cars where the glare from the windows will not clutter your photographs.
