curtis240z Posted May 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2018 I will be on the starboard side of the ship and notice that the ship will be circling New zealand in a counter clockwise motion. Curious if there will be any islands to view other than when docking or just the sea? Thanks in Advance! ;)
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted May 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2018 No, there isn't much off the coast of NZ. We've done the trip in reverse with a cabin on the port side and the most I've seen is a large pod of dolphins. Most of the coastal cruising is at night anyway, apart from one sea day between Napier and Tauranga. You will get good views of the coast at times from up on deck on that sea day and that's where you might see the dolphins.

Swissmiss6253 Posted May 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Cruising in and out of the NZ ports is generally spectacular. Such a beautiful country.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted May 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2018 Cruising in and out of the NZ ports is generally spectacular. It certainly is. We head up to the Sky Lounge on Solstice and enjoy the sailaways at each port. Otago Harbour is the most spectacular but Tauranga, Wellington and Akaroa are also very pretty. On the two cruises we've done sailaway from Auckland was very late so we missed that as we were at dinner, however it is lovely too.
