48 hour sale question

Recommended Posts

As some of you know, Carnival is running a 48-hour sale on certain cruises. You can earn up to 250.00 OBC. I found this out yesterday afternoon when Carnival Cruise specialist called me. Given that dh and I are planning to book (not take) a cruise this year, it sounded very appealing, especially since the length and room category of the cruise we're planning would qualify for the whole 250.00. Unfortunately, we're planning a cruise for 2019, and this offer doesn't apply to us. So, my question is, how often do offers like this one happen?

no such thing as a sale imo. the cruise im watching is this fall and the price is up about $60 pp insides and more for higher categorys. Always a give and take that comes out about the same bottom line.

When isnt there a sale going on, or something they try and convince you is a sale. call me a cynic.

I personally don't book or not book cruises based on the "sale" that is currently going on. Doesn't matter if there is a sale or not or I get 50% off the second cruiser or 3rd and 4th guest sale free. It seems to cost me the same regardless no matter what I do, so I'm a little jaded when it comes to the cruise sales.

I'd generally agree with this, but I have had some luck in both my currently booked cruise and a Princess cruise we took last year. With Princess we were able to rebook as buy one get one 1/2 off and saved significantly over our initial booking. I have re-fared twice with our current Carnival booking. Once was a small price drop with an increase in OBC and then again with this sale - cabin cost increased $10 from our most recent rate but we also got an additional $100 OBC. We originally booked ES though, which has it's own conditions that may or not be worth it to some.

We also do not book based on a sale. We book based on what line is sailing where we want to go, the dates that fit our schedule, at a price that fits our budget. If a sale comes along that we can re-book our same itinerary at then that is just an unexpected bonus.

Our last cruise we only saw prices increasing (or small decrease but net increase since you would lose OBC).

There’s no such thing as a cruise “sale”. Prices do go up and down but it has nothing to do with any “sale”. It’s a game all cruise lines play to make us think we are getting a “sale” price. When prices go down it’s to fill cabins and it’s a good time to re-book if possible. When prices go up pat yourself on the back for “outsmarting” the cruise line!
