Anyone recently back from the Millennium?

Would love to hear from anyone who has recently sailed on the Millennium. I am hoping for some positive reports.

There were many posts a few weeks back regarding some problems on the Millennium (mostly related to a sewage smell as well as some tired looking staterooms). I think many of the reports were from a transatlantic cruise in November that experienced some problems).

I am hoping these issues have been addressed and things are back up to speed on the Millennium.

We have sailed with Celebrity several times and have always been thrilled. Next summer we are on the Millennium in June from Barcelona to Venice.

Thanks for the information.

We cruised on the Millie from 12/11 - 12/18, and can report that there was absolutely no trace of the sewage smell which seemed to have been commented upon by some who cruised her just after drydock. I believe you should not be concerned about this. Hope you have a great cruise/:)

I second Nancy's question. We leave for South America tomorrow and will join Millennium on Sunday.

Linda - My mom and dad are on the Millennium for your cruise. They work on the ship teaching the computer classes. If you take one of these classes make sure you say hi! Their names are John and Diana. My dad is 6' 5" so you can't miss him!

Linda -

My parents are retired and signed on with a company called High Seas Computers or something like that. They get to cruise for free in exchange for teaching classes and helping in the computer lab.

It's a great deal! They are on the Mil right now and will stay on for your cruise as well. They usually work about 4 or 5 weeks before coming home.

Good for your parents!!! That's awesome! Do you think they could get a message to a bartender for me??? If you wouldn't mind..... please ask them to tell Fabian Heavens to call Jennifer in New York and leave a number where I can reach him back. Thanks so much! God Bless!

Aah, Fabian Heaven, the incredible singing waiter. We enjoyed him tremendously on our Infinity cruise a couple of years ago, and were delighted to find him again recently on Millie. Unfortunately, he was working at the pool, and we didn't spend much time out there. He's delightful.

My husband and I were on that stinky transatlantic a couple of months ago. Someone on here explained that they dismantle the plumbing system during drydock and that the smell wasn't unusual for a post-drydock cruise. It was pretty bad. Recent reports indicate that all is well now, so don't worry. Other than that, the ship was in good shape. I wouldn't hesitate to book Millie again, although I don't think I'll ever do another cruise after drydock, no matter the ship. Live and learn:)

I was on the Dec 4 sailing, right after the reported problems and I can assure you, whatever it was, it was taken care of before our cruise departed. One big problem they had was the air conditioning. It was non-existant in many areas of the ship. The casino was hot, the ladies bathroom outside the Rendevous was impossibly hot, so hot it felt like a sauna, the dining room was much warmer than usual and many cabins on Deck 6 aft, including mine, were terribly hot. Even though the staff tried to fix the problem (it was 87 degrees in my cabin with the thermostat turned to the lowest point), it never did get cool in my cabin, or my sister's cabin next door. I would bet that because of the cost of fuel, the air conditioning was purposely functioning warmer than normal throughout the ship.

helooo,

Dh and I were on the 12/24 sailing had a Fabulous time. Sad to get off <sigh>. There were no cooling issues or stinky issues as far as I could tell and we were on two weeks. If you need to know anything else just ask.

hmm where to next....

  • 2 weeks later...

The odor depends on your cabin location. We were on deck 6 forward and the smell of sewage was pretty bad on a couple of days with rough seas. Cabin attendent says it's bad "when the ship rolls side-to-side." Says it's even worse in the crew areas.

It took 10 days for guest relations to repond to our complained. Then they sent a plumber to our cabin (not sure why), started to spray air freshener in the corridor when needed, and finally offered to move us to another cabin of the same category for the last 3 days. Since our tablemates also reported an occasional odor on deck 8 forward, we declined to move. Others with aft cabin never had any problems.
