Royal Caribbean Fights Back!

I would expect that Dr. Lee was selected by DW's attorney...now who is paying the bill is in question. If DW ain't got no money, then Lee is working for the attorney or under a contingency arrangement like the attorney I would suspect.

But he knows his role, it's how he makes a living.

Ann Nichole Smith was more convincing, than our Mrs. Smith.

I have been watching the shows that have discussed George and Jennifer Smith and so far haven't commented. Today, though, I feel that Gayle King was so taken by Jennifer that she believes all she had to say. I have always thought Oprah was a very smart woman, and that her friend Gayle had to be also, but that image was totally destroyed.

I can't understand how anyone would believe the "I can't remember anything" but 1- knew she had a spa appointment, 2- was so confused that she didn't know what was going on because 4 hours before she was "unconscious" 3- RCI promised her father that 2 security guards would be with her and even though it started that way, that wasn't good enough 4- She could have been drugged, not sure though 5- Things were done for her and Marie was someone from guest relations (obviously not important enought ) 6-She got the bill (probably Mastercard or Visa or whomever they used for the sea pass or maybe RCI for all their drinks)7-The ship should have stayed in port--They have insurance(The heck with all other passengers on their cruise-they should have been sent home) 8-The tears on command. I don't think Oprah knew a thing about what was going on and that she allowed her friend Gayle to do this as a favor to Gayle. Gayle said she was skeptical at first but later totally believed Jennifer.

Adam Goldstein admitted that things weren't perfect as they never will be. I give him a lot of credit and the wife in the audience (Mrs Friedlander?) who said she knew Jennifer wasn't drunk, didn't see her later or know all. She was there to make Jennifer look good. It still didn't work.

I do think she knows a lot more but doesn't want to admit anything. Her false tears did nothing for me.

I posted this on the "Oprah" thread but wanted some input from you guys.

RCI is not the investigating party here. Once the Federal (FBI) and Turkish authorities were informed, RCI was under their direction. Whatever they were told to do is all they were required to do.

The RCI crew of the Brilliance (just like the other passengers) were all potential witnesses to be investigated... and should not do the investigating. If something like this happened at some other type of resort (i.e. Sandals), would we expect the resort staff to investigate themselves and their resort after authorities have been notified?

I think the fact that Royal Caribbean basically lost any authority to investigate anything after the authorities were brought in gets lost in the media and discussion.

Since Jen's first media appearance, she has had some great coaching. She even toned down the makeup a little bit. I believe she doesn't remember some events, but...I can't buy the fact that she remembers nothing. As for the new witness that said Jen and George were not drunk at 2:30, I don't think that means anything. When someone is drinking, their state of being (from sober to drunk) can change within minutes. I still think RCI did everything they should have done. At the same time, I guess it is reasonable to suggest that they could have had more heart and maybe they should have offered to pay for her ticket home. As for a intentional cover up...it seems totally absurd. As for Gail the reporter, I thought she did a pretty good job of pointing out the time line of events and expressing both points of view. She was well informed.

Just finished watching Oprah and have a few thoughts:

1. If JHS thought that George had spent the night in his friends room, who she mentioned by name, why didn't she go to their cabin on her way to the spa appt. and get sweet hubby?

2. If she thinks that she might have been drugged, why didn't she ask for a blood test when she was looked at by a doctor before talking with the Turkish authorities?

3.She says that she knows something bad happened to George because of all the evidence she has seen. Where has she seen this and who showed it to her? His parents haven't seen anything but JHS has???

4.When they showed the clip of his family saying that they felt she wasn't telling everything she knows and then panned back to her, she looked like scared to me.

5.The Smith's are quoting all sorts of eveidence that is wrong and doesn't exist, even after RC had released their statement and provided a timeline. They really need to get the facts so they stop looking like fools.

6.She says that she wants RC to just be accountable for what happened. So everyone else needs to be accountable EXCEPT her??? Both her and her husbands behavior and choices in drinking contributed to what happened that night.

7. Oprah tells RC that JHS needs an apology from them. What the heck for??

8. If JHS and the Smith's have a problem with how things were done, they are talking to the wrong person. They need to talk with the Turkish authorities, the American Consulate, or the FBI. RC is not in the business of investigating crimes or disappearances. That is why they called the people who are. If they told RC that they were finished investigating, why would RC have any reason to doubt them?

9. She brought up the fact that RC hadn't paid for her ticket home. That would be because she was being handled at that time by the American Consulate.

10. All I saw by her was me, me, me!! What about her poor husband who lost his life???

11. I think there were a lot of questions that didn't get asked by Oprah or Gayle. If some of us had gotten the chance to interview JHS, I'm sure that it might have gone differently.

Just heard a blurb from Joe Scarborough tonight;

Something to the affect;

"Tonight Jenifer Hagel Smith ....the cruiseline that's attacking her, and how she's fighting back............."

Think I'm gonna puke.:rolleyes:

Is that on now, or what time?

maven, my take is that "heart attacks" are common, as are dead passangers. I've been told that when they have a seniors sort of crowd, that they expect a death or two...when at sea they simply put the body on ice...next to the fish for that night no doubt.:D

The son was 31 so it was not the usual case, so they did investigate that is was not foul play. And we were in port so the body was shipped home. Our friend was escorted to a hotel.

I just read through some posts on the Oprah boards. The majority of people were very turned off by the widow's selfish demeanor (the me, me, me attitude) and her total lack of emotion. I, too was turned off by this woman, AND Oprah, who I normally love. This was the absolute worst Oprah show I've ever seen....Oprah needs to keep Gayle off the show for sure. Why were there no other witnesses?? And why did Oprah go easy on the questions???

As for Mrs. Smith, well, I don't care if she was drunk, drugged, or whatever. If I woke up, during my honeymoon, with NO recollection of the previous night AND no husband, I can't imagine running off to the spa. I think I'd be a little too freaked out.

And if she was so 'out of it' at 4:30 that she had to be wheelchaired to her room and tossed into bed, then someone please tell me how she was all bright eyed and bushy tailed at 8 and made it to her appointment. I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but this smells fishy.

I think Gayle was incorrect using the phrase "mea culpa" toward the end of the show. I also noted Goldstein fidget when she used it. In no way did I think he was saying RCI was to blame, yet those words were put in his mouth by her grandstanding saying how great it was that RCI stepped up to apologize. She wasn't listening to the show I was listening to. Did anyone else get that feeling?

YES.

Halos like I posted earlier, saw the show today and was completely turned off with the entire show. I also agree with you ,Gayle should be kept off the show. So sad that one of my favourite T.V. programs aired something like it did today. Oprah! I am so dissapointed.

I just added my comments, and here is what I posted;

I think you, Oprah, need to pick this one apart just a bit more, and maybe not be so much a part of the background. The hard questions you have been known for, did not get asked. There definitely something wrong with the whole thing, and it is not what the cruiseline did, or didn't do for Jennifer.

I think her, and the Smith's are losing any sympathy the public may have had for them in the begining. They are now starting to seem irrational, and relentless. We get that they are angry about their loss, but they are not gaining anything by spewing out all the venom towards RCI.

RCI was not the "investigating authority" for this incident, so they should not be looked at as the ones who botched it, or covered anything up.

The whole thing just makes no sense, but Jennifer knows more than she is saying. Roll the tape back and look at her when she was telling you about the drinking, and look at her face when she caught herself saying "on the same night when my husband was killed, or"..... She knows he was killed. I'm just not sure what the motive was, or who exactly did it.

I think she knows, and cannot discuss that yet, also his parents seemed more at ease with her today during there clip.

You know, I was just thinking, her use of the word "killed". I guess that could also mean that it was not at the hand of another too....if someone walks across the street, and gets hit by a car, they are killed, not murdered....funny she didn't say murdered....
