heychadwick Posted July 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2018 Hi All, I'm going on an Alaskan cruise with my whole family and these are the offers for my ship. Yes, I know that this is offered on my ship. My question is.....what sites are covered under the Social Media sites? Is it any website? Or just the big social media ones (Facebook, Snapchat, Tumblr etc). I'm just not sure what is there for the Social Media....besides the obvious answers. I wish there was a definitive answer as to what's included in the "Social Media" selection. caribill Posted July 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2018 Based on this thread https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=56479884&posted=1#post56479884 about pricing on the Grand Princess, Princess is not offering unlimited internet at all. What they are offering are three packages with different daily limits of how many MB you can use. Social 200 MB/day Surf 300 MB/day Premium 500 MB/day So what you are paying for if you get more than the Social package is not faster speed, just more MB per day. For many people, the amount of surfing they might do each day can be handled by the Social package. So I cannot tell if what is offered on the Grand is what is being offered for your cruise, but my guess is that it is. As I see it, access to individual web sites (other than possibly those with streaming) is not restricted with the Social or Surf package, just how much you can access them. heychadwick Posted July 10, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Ooooph! Not unlimited? 200 mbs or 300 mbs? Ouch! Nevermind. My daughter can suffer by having to only participate in 101 things going on the ship. Thanks everyone!
Rare Vineyard View Posted July 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Our cruise out of SFO in September is saying the same verbiage. Including the word unlimited on the top package, and no reference to maximum MB/day on the other two.
moki'smommy Posted July 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2018 The other nice thing is that in Alaska, she will be able to use her US based phone plan For those "just gotta" moments she ca use her phone while in port.
