TNTLAMB Posted January 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2006 Here is a copy of the request emailed to the Grand for a CC party: The Grand Princess forwarded me your email request. Please advise your fellow cruise critic's to contact onboard services at Princess Cruises with these types of request. The ship's are busy with other priorities. We at Princess Corporate offices do all the setting up of parties, meeting's etc for the various ships. Princess does not sponsor complimentary cocktail parties unless it is an earned amenity. If you wish to have a party we can do a no host party (everyone pay's for their own drinks), as I have done in the past for the Cruise Critics, or a based on consumption party, billing the escort. I am attaching our price list so you will know what your options are. Following is a list of names and ships they coordinate with their email addresses: Grand and Island Princess - Sue Tieman - stieman@princesscruises.com Star Princess - Sergio Lopez - slopez@princesscruises.com Coral Princess - Coleen Reyes - creyes@princesscruises.com Diamond and Sun Princess - Diana Hall - dhall@princesscruises.com Pacific, Tahitian Princess - Jan James - jjames@princesscruises.com Regal and Sapphire Princess - Jenny Streeck - jstreeck@princesscruises.com Caribbean and Sea Princess - Berda Davis - bdavis@princesscruises.com Golden and Dawn Princess - Berna Grayer - bgrayer@princesscruises.com If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us. Regards Sue Tieman Am posting per Sues request. I dont think I would want to upset her any further!!! I wonder if it is CC she doesn't like or me:) No-host is better than non-host. Druke I Posted January 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2006 Your correspondent, Sue Tieman, needs a visit with the "apostrophe police". Apostrophes are not used to pluralize a word! They sure don't teach English grammar and punctuation they way they used to (hard, with diagramming, etc).

I guess I didn't want to bother anyone just ask a question. Seems I bothered the ship. Her reply seemed curt but then although I'm easily pleased I am very sensitive :)
Rare nreeder Posted January 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2006 The answer you received is what I believe to be "normal" procedure for Princess. We were on back to back Sun Princess cruises in Oct/Nov and for each, someone from Cruise Critic group contacted Princess corporate office and made arrangements for a no host cocktail party the first day at sea each cruise. Princess, unlike Royal Carribbean/Celebrity doesn't have a formal contractural arrangement with CruiseCritic. Even then, from what I understand those lines only do it complementary with a 35 person minimum which many times you won't meet. We did find this better than just trying to meet in a lounge by oursleves at a given time. A couple of times on earlier cruises our CruiseCritic group had pre-planned to meet in the Wheelhouse bar only to find that when we got there, it was booked for a wedding reception and we had to make instant location changes. We had a great time with the Princess arrangments on the Sun as it was done in the nightclub which is kind of private and not as open to the rest of the ship as other lounges were. You can also attempt to arrange something once on board but things can be booked up by that time. I've seen some comments on CruiseCritic that some of the Cruise Directors currently on Princess worked previously for Royal Carribbean and were used to CruiseCritic parties. The trick is knowing which Cruise Director is/was and where they are now! They can sometimes be contacted ahead of time and make arrangments too. No guarantees, and it won't work on all ships. Thanks Norm
Ethel5 Posted January 6, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2006 I guess I didn't want to bother anyone just ask a question. Seems I bothered the ship. Her reply seemed curt but then although I'm easily pleased I am very sensitive :) Her response was a bit abrupt/short. I wouldn't let one person bother me. What has worked in the past is to write the ship and attn cruise director. Like this: Grandprincess@Princesscruises.com and in the subject line put in "attn: Cruise Director". Actually that is what we did and it was forwarded to corporate. I'm not bothered, by the way, by her response, my comments were an attempt at humor. By the way she quoted me $12.00/hour per person for an open bar. If it included foofoo drinks, it could be a bargain. Perhaps they could issue a time card at the doors of all the bars.:D

billeelou Posted January 6, 2006 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2006 My response from Sue was, "Hi Mr. Spears I have been corresponding with Mr. Lambdin. It would be great if only one of you would contact us requesting a meet and greet... (yes left out the redundnt part). ...Once I get a response from Mr. Lambdin, I will set it up on a sail-a-way." I don't think she understood it would just be a way for those of us on the CC board to meet other cruisers. but hey its ok 14 days and a wake up!!!!!! Lynda90 Posted January 7, 2006 #13 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Very interesting. Neil Chandler, the Cruise Director on the Sapphire last month, hosted a wonderful coctail party for our cc group. Complimentary drinks and wonderful appetizers were served and it didn't cost us anything. We sent our email to sapphireprincess@princesscruises.com and in the subject line Attn:Cruise Director as others of you have suggested. It probably depends on who receives the email and what they actually do with it. Ours was a wonderful party held in the Wake View Bar which was completely private. 2ladies Posted January 8, 2006 #16 Share Posted January 8, 2006 From a PR point of view - not a great reply!! It probably depends on who your e-mail reaches and whether that particular Cruise Director can be bothered to organise it. I am on a Princess cruise tomorrow and I believe that a get-together is being organised on the first sea day. Cruise Director sounds a great guy - hello Neil!!!! And hello Colin - how's the kilt? If refreshments are not supplied - not a problem. A few of us will go up to the Horizon and bring down coffee and cookies!!! I really don't expect an open bar - just a place to put faces to names we have been corresponding with for months!!! We are also going to meet for the sailaway - weather permitting. We have organised this ourselves. Nothing is impossible. Ignore the rude and unhelpful people in the world and get on and arrange things yourself. Usually works!!! And if not - have a great time anyway!!!

Cruisin' Chick Posted January 29, 2006 #18 Share Posted January 29, 2006 Went on the IP for the 12/22 cruise. Some CCers on the earlier cruises had sent an email to the cruise director (as noted above). I got a response that he would plan a CC meet on the way to Hawaii and one on the way back. Didn't put which sea days. So our roll call planned a couple of meets of our own the first two days and everyone was advised to check the Patters every day. We also got almost everyone's cabin number (only one person didn't list or email it). Never saw a CC meet listed in the Patters on the way...so I left a note for the CD at the Pass. Services desk and got a quick response that he has planned a party for the first sea day after Hawaii. I left notes in everyone's inboxes. There was a notice in the Patters for the CC meet and a someone from the CD's staff poured us each a glass of champagne. No canapes but it was something. I figured the CD just messed up for the original meet or something. BTW, I think that woman (and Princess Corp.) could use a course in PR. There are plenty of groups that get a get-together (eg. FOB, etc) and a little perk can go a long way...with people recommending to friends to cruise with them. It's part of the price of doing business in a service-oriented field (I used to work in PR and for a service-oriented company).
seastar2 Posted January 29, 2006 #19 Share Posted January 29, 2006 Anyone doa get together on a recent Dawn sailing??? We are playing witha few ideas..one is contact the CD fora "cocktail" party location and the other is to get everyone together on a seaday in the Pizza resturant..
