CraftyCoffeeCruiser Posted July 22, 2018 #51 Share Posted July 22, 2018 The best deal for me was an offer I couldn’t do. $83 +port fees and taxes for a week Mexico Rivera cruise , about 7 years ago , sadly we couldn’t take time off work [emoji22]

AmberTeka Posted July 24, 2018 #53 Share Posted July 24, 2018 We have had some fantastic offers ( casino) from Princess and HAL. ( owned by Carnival) But we have Never had a good casino deal from Carnival. ( and we appreciate what we get, but not the freebies or close to it) and we never got a Freebie VIP cruise. We have 18 cruises on Carnival. we like sailing on Carnival more as it is close to our home, with Fort Lauderdale a 6 hour drive. I feel unloved by Carnival. And nothing is ever really free. We were on the Sunshine over the Fourth of July and I donated more to the slots than I usually do, and my husband was at the roulette table a lot. We never go to land based casinos ( Thank Goodness). I lost He won. I did have the sense to stay out of the casino after losing. I managed to have a good time doing other things. We both had a good time. As did my daughter and her family who came with us. But if the freebie was Casino...…..it was paid for...count on that. It does sound silly for a grown woman to say this, but when Carnival was doing the really free thing with the VIP numbers, it did hurt my feelings. Why not me? I laugh about it now, but at the time it was a hot issue. People would argue about it on this site, & I still think it was not good promotion technique. We sailed Princess and Hal after that until this summer.
jessica82973 Posted July 24, 2018 #54 Share Posted July 24, 2018 We went on a 5 day, ocean view for four of us out of Tampa for $1100 about four years ago , booked it about 6 weeks before. On our first cruise 6 years ago it got cancelled due to engine fire so when we rebooked we got 25% off, upgraded ourselves to a grand suite on the Splendor
cmukid87 Posted July 24, 2018 #55 Share Posted July 24, 2018 I got the offer of all offers for 9, 10, and 11 day Journeys cruises shortly after they were announced. Promotional rate of $50/pp and Carnival offered $100obc. I called my credit card company and could redeem $40 in cashback rewards at the time for $80 in cruise payment. Problem was I got that offer the week we returned from a 7 day and we couldn't go because we didn't have the vacation time available. It would have cost us $20+port fees and taxes to go on a 9, 10, or 11 day cruise.
5PUPS Posted July 24, 2018 #56 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Good guess is they spent a ton of money in the casino Sent from my Pixel using Forums mobile app Wrong! I got the same $25 pp offer, and I definitely did not spend a ton of money in the casino.
douggw Posted July 24, 2018 #57 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Splendor - after the fire. We were booked a few weeks after the fire, and they kept having to reschedule us - farther and farther out because the ship wasn't ready. Each time they did, they gave us OBC. We ended up going the first sailing after the fire and for 6 of us, we barely had to pay anything other than tips.
Gypsywych Posted July 24, 2018 #58 Share Posted July 24, 2018 It's been 5-6 years or so, but we booked a balcony on the Fascination out of Jax for a quiet anniversary trip and received an upgrade to an extended grand suite for $50 total. Completely spoiled my husband for boarding early. Now he thinks he must get priority boarding all the time. :)
flounder315 Posted July 24, 2018 #59 Share Posted July 24, 2018 In 2015 they had a Platinum/Diamond Sale that ended March 1st. I booked 3 summer cruises in 3 days, a 4 day interior 5 day balcony & a 7 day balcony, all 3 cruises were for 2 people for less than $1,000. Never seen a sale like that since. In 2016 I got a free interior on a 7 day from the casino. Last year after Harvey I got a 7 day in a balcony by myself for $78 total. My gratuities were more than the cruise... :')
CaneDawg Posted July 24, 2018 #60 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Probably my upcoming 6 nighter on the Miracle. 800 total for a balcony cabin and I cashed in some points on the Carnival card for a $250 gift card. First time on her, The layout seems odd with allot of the action on lower decks but I'm do ready for a Vaca!

Gillybob Posted July 24, 2018 #62 Share Posted July 24, 2018 I was on Carnival Splendor last year for the cruise after she limped back to port with engine trouble. Total itinerary re-work going only to Nassau and Freeport instead of the western Caribbean that was intended - 50% refund, 50% future cruise credit, meaning it was a freebie. Of course, we didn't go where we were supposed to go, but I thought it was a great compromise from Carnival. I shared the future cruise credit with a friend to go on Miracle later in the year.
