tcdcruiser Posted August 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2018 (edited) Coincidently, the PP is calling on Edinburgh today and is docked at Rosyth. You can see her position live at Marine Traffic.com https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-3.446/centery:56.019/zoom:14 Edited August 16, 2018 by tcdcruiser
john watson Posted August 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2018 does anyone know if the Paciic Princess docks in Edinburgh or at South Queensferry or Leigh? Thank you Pacific Princess docked in Rosyth a week ago. The easiest way to get to Edinburgh City Centre from docks is to get a taxi from the ship to Inverkeithing Railway Station (about £8.00). Get a return ticket to Edinburgh Waverley Station (about 20mins £6.00 or so return ticket - off peak). Return same way. An alternative return to ship strategy - X55 bus goes from George Street to Rosyth from outside Dome Tea Room in George Street (Bus stop reference GM). There is a taxi rank at Inverkeithing Railway Station but not at Rosyth Railway Station. The bus drops you off at Queensferry Road, not the railway station, Rosyth with a longish walk to docks. Bus service is hourly at 35 mins past the hour running until after midnight. Regards John
DrivesLikeMario Posted August 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2018 The Pacific always docks at Rosyth. I wish it docked at Leith - that would've been closer but still, Rosyth is much better than So. Queensferry. At least the ship actually DOCKS and you don't have to do that tender! You will board a bus after walking off the ship which will take you approx. 1/4 mile around to a main area where the buses and taxis are. There's a billboard with posted taxi rates to many typical sites in the area, along with vending machines (if I remember correctly) and bathrooms. Best of all, there are very helpful people working there too. Getting to/from Edinburgh is easy. We hired Seven Sevens Car Service to take us into Edinburgh (totally cool getting to drive across the new bridge) and then took the train over the old Firth of Forth Bridge from Waverly to Inverkeithing Station and then a taxi to the ship. One tip though - the train can get quite packed in the evenings heading home so be prepared to wait for the next train if you need to - in other words, don't cut your time too close at the end of the night. Inverkeithing's taxi rank was a bit of a zoo with tons of people getting off and scrambling for the taxis. Double up with others that are going back to your ship to split the taxi/tip fare.
