1965pds Posted January 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2006 Does anyone have any general information on the HC rooms on the Grand Princess? Do you feel they were large enough to move around in a wheelchair?
cjh Posted January 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2006 I have been on the sister ship with 2 wheelchairs and there is plenty of room. If you are going for a balcony go for the caribe deck the balconies are twice as big. All balcony rooms have a ramp on the inside and outside for access to the balcony. The bathroom is large with a roll in shower that has a pull down seat.
CaptData Posted January 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2006 The closets also have a pull down bar. The bathroom sink is easy to get up to. They put the big towels up high but you can ask the stward to leave them down lower.
Barry ATL Posted January 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2006 The Princess "Grand Class" ships have h/c rooms that are around 250 sq ft. There is plenty of room for you to move around.
Splinter Posted January 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2006 We were on the maiden voyage of the Grand. If you don't mind an inside cabin, I can recommend E716. It was HUGE! King-sided bed, full sofa, big bathroom, a wet bar, large dressing area with pull-down closet bar, plenty of wheelchair room. We had drinks there before dinner every evening for our party of 6 and it was so spacious no one ever had to sit on the bed. Here is some additional information about the accessible cabins on the Grand from Access-able.com: "Cabin numbers; Lido Deck L248, L252 - Emerald Deck E716, E717, E301, E302, E303, E304 - Caribe Deck C248, C252, C301, C302, C303, C304 - Baja Deck B248, B252, B301, B302, B303, B304 - Aloha Deck A248, A252, A301, A302, A303, A304. The staterooms range in size from 233-312 square feet. Both the cabin and bathroom doors are 35" wide and the bathroom threshold is ramped. The bathrooms have roll-in showers with seats, hand held showers and grab bars. The toilets are 20" high and have grab bars. As of 2002 the pool is equipped with a lift for mobility impaired passengers."
Umbarger Posted January 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2006 We are looking at booking a obstructed view Handicapped cabin on the Grand. Could anyone give me information on those cabins. How obstructed are the views. We have an inside booked right now to keep down expenses but would love to have some natural light. Thank you, Linda
Arwenmark Posted January 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 9, 2006 if you are going to stay with the inside, get E716 or E717 as they are basically suites at inside pricing. though they do not have suite services. But the cabins are great.
Umbarger Posted January 10, 2006 #8 Share Posted January 10, 2006 We are booked in a inside cabin on the Lido deck right now. Close to pool and such for mom. Why are the insides on Emerald deck so nice? Thank you for this information. Linda

Linda Because they are right next to the suites and they simply carried some of the suite characteristics over into those rooms.
