Mom2B&Z Posted September 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2018 We are a family of 4 (boys are 14 and 11) cruising March 9 2019 on MSC. Our flight into Miami arrives at 8:25pm, so I’m looking for an inexpensive hotel for the evening. I’ve poured over Trip Advisor, determining that the La Quinta airport east is the only hotel with shuttles to the airport and port, but it looks like the bed set up is two full beds, which won’t work for us. Two double beds are tight, two Queen’s are preferred. I can’t seem to find another hotel with airport and port shuttles which includes breakfast. Does one exist with queen beds? I’m trying to book with aeroplan points and I have a lot of options, but none seem to meet all of my criteria. I think if I have to give up one of those options, I’d give up the port shuttle which is bound to be cheaper than feeding my 14yo son breakfast! TIA for suggestions and compromises. GTO-Girl Posted September 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2018 March is high season in Miami. An inexpensive hotel this time of year may equate being in a bad area!! Just be careful where you book....
JohninDC Posted September 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2018 Forget about the "free" shuttles and focus on a hotel that meets your needs/budget. Since you are arriving late check out the Hampton Inn or Homewood Suites in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA. Both offer airport shuttles and breakfast (Homewood's is MUCH better) and there is a local strip mall nearby (across the street from the Hampton Inn) with grocery, drug and liquor stores for last minute cruise supplies. ;) Taxi or UberXL from either hotel to POM will run about $30+ Good luck! :D
Flymia Posted September 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2018 Yea, very few hotels offer port shuttles. It is just not that long of a ride. I would focus on everything else other than port shuttles.
