we have been on 3 world cruises on the Pacific Princess. Charles Crain - you will find this to be a SMALL, TINY ship. Food choices limited. entertainment choices limited. suggest you bring a DVD player and lots of movies to hook into the TV. Internet is poor - very slow - many places NONE. but, the places you see and visit are fantastic - great way to see them is from a cruise ship. have fun. we were on Holland America 2017 world cruise - they had a night club dedicated to classical music - none to rock & roll. Pacific Princess, with all its drawbacks, is 1000% BETTER.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, we are doing this for the itinerary, especially Africa, and to at least do this once in our lifetime...

I'm awaiting artistic inspiration...maybe another round of Vietnamese whiskey is required!

I'm glad it was  wild Turkey. That Vietnamese stuff might have been high in ethanol!

Wow! I just discovered all of this in your summary.... THANK YOU! Certainly enjoyed all that is here - we were some of your fellow travelers. All of the info and helps you provided, as well as others on the Roll Call, really helped us have an epic adventure!

Can you share what video footage of the ship was used in your opening sequence of the movie "60 Days on the Coral"? Would really like to use it in a personal project I'm doing, if possible. THX!

The raw video footage from which the sequence was cut is in the uploaded video folders linked above. Not sure where exactly since I sampled from multiple folders.

All I can say is wow.  Your travel Vlog are excellent.  You guys took a lot of time to put this together; and it looks wonderful.  I feel like every stop was documented with video; which made it so real; like I was there with you.  Thanks and have a wonderful holiday.

Oh wow... like someone in a previous post said, these videos are so good you feel like you are there.  But whoa ...I was there!

You got the cyclo ride just right! That was the scariest thing I've ever done. Speeding it up like that made it seem just like it really felt!!!

Thanks for sharing.

Wanda  Oh...Bill was there too! He found the ship.

WOW! doesn't seem enough.... but WOW! Your videos are SO impressive and FUN! I've enjoyed watching them... was on that epic cruise and was great to see the sights from your perspective (SO many different places to go - enjoyed seeing some we weren't able to make).

You have some terrific skills in making these videos...wondering what software you are using for these... and your music... do you share any of your "secrets"? Would love any info you care to share. I am into this kind of thing (making personal videos/journal) and use a variety of software... I can see I definitely need to learn about using Google Earth map. I hadn't thought of that - it makes for TERRIFIC titles! And love the music chosen - VERY NICE!

Thank you, again for sharing the videos, but also all the info, forms, etc, that helped make our adventure so much better!

May your Holiday Season be full of Joy!

I used Corel Videostudio X10 exclusively for the videos. It was the most stable of all the ones I have, including the newer 2018 version, but is still not my favorite because they ditched SmartSound completely. So that requires me to use SonicFire to score the videos, or Corel's new AutoMusic, which sucks.

As a backup I have Cyberlink, Premiere Elements and Movie Studio Platinum.

My secret to video is one I learned years ago during analog video editing (tape to tape). Choose the music and then cut the video to the music.  I always choose the music first, then add in video and photos that 'fit'...Most of the music was selected from various albums I have. The only one I knew in advance I had to do was the Cyclo ride to Apocalypse Now music - the alternate selection was Top Gun's Danger Zone.

Glad you liked them. Not entirely happy as I typically spend more time editing, but  I wanted to get these out to everyone so that those on the cruise could play them during the family gatherings over the holidays - sort of a more modern version of pulling out the old slide show!

When I didn't live the life of retirement, I used to help the Audio Visual department once in a great while make videos to push products. Learned the same lesson, start with the audio and lay the video that most fits on top of it. Can't remember the software we used, but we could lay video on top down to the fraction of a second for timing. In our case most often, the audio was a script highlighting the product.

Would like to see what you do with Danger Zone!
