Using Carnival Cruise Cash

I want to use Carnival gift cards for all (most) on board spending. But, I also don't want to end up with any left over $$ on a gift card. So, if I have this right. I want to use my gift card to buy cruise cash before we sail thru FunShops, right?

This will be automatically loaded to our sign & sail account (that we've already set up with a credit card), right?

Then the cruise cash will come off our S&S account first, then any remainder will be billed to our cc on file, right?

So, if we've prepaid for all excursions and gratuities, don't plan for extra paid dining, have 4 of us sailing for 7 nights, we're not heavy drinkers maybe 6 total for the cruise, and just needing a slush fund for incidentals and ask-identals. How much should we buy in cruise cash, $50, $100, more? I'd rather run out and have it go to credit card than have too much and have to concern with that. What do you think?

It really all depends on you how much you want to use for cruise cash. Remember that pictures cost money, you may find something that you can't live without, specialty coffees, etc.

I don't know whether or not you know this, but there is a way to get your money back. I know it definitely works with gift cards, so I am sure that it would work with cruise cash as well.

Whatever amount you have leftover, go to the casino and use the slots. This has been brought up several times by others (have done it myself), so the casino now makes you spin once or twice in a slot to get your money back. Let's say you have $45.95 left on your S&S account, go to the slot and when asked how much you want to put on your account, put in the $49.95. Spin once or twice. You may lose (but you may also win), and then cash out. Take the receipt to the casino cashier and get your money.

By the way, I just want to point out that I did this once, and I ended up winning $1,300 on the slots!

RECEIPTS ARE NOT GIVEN AT MACHINES, JUST "CASH OUT TO SAIL AND SIGN CARD" and take your card to Casino Teller and cash out.

No, You don't want to buy Cruise Cash from Carnivals Fun Shop.

Cruise Cash is nonrefundable.

You have Gift Cards already.

Sometime during your cruise load your Gift Cards onto your account either via Guest Services or via the Kiosk.

Don't let how money comes out of your account confuse you. You have no choice as to how money (credit card, Cruise Cash, or Gift Card) is debited from your account. You can't go up to a bar, order a drink and say 'I want this drink charged to my on board credit." They just charge to your account.

You could even wait until the day before your last day, go to Guest Services, see how much you owe, hand over the gift cards that you need, get a receipt and walk away. Then you worry about nothing because the only things to hit the credit card are whatever charges you have on the last night on board.

My apologies as I mixed up my cruise lines. Also, I was just at the local casino that gives receipts. There was no need to yell for a simple mistake.

Cruise cash is refundable if you do the casino trick.

Cruise cash is refundable if you do the casino trick.

If my mother in law had a kickstand, she'd be a bike.

If a frogs butt was glass, he'd only hop once

If a tree falls in the woods, is it still my fault

How far you want to go with "What if's"?

However, if your intention was to be more correct than others,,,, then we'll let you win okay?

Either way

Using the "casino trick" does not mean that Cruise Cash is refundable. It means you scammed the system and found a work around. Until Carnival figures out a way to close it down anyway.

Officially, per Carnival Cruise Lines, Cruise Cash is non refundable.

I did exactly what you are talking about because I didn’t want to deal with several gift cards with very little money on each. It’s hard to say how much but I would estimate $10/drink for starters. I have gotten cash back at the casino and it was very easy so don’t worry if you have some left and need to get it back.

By no means was I trying to be more correct than others. I thought I was just giving some friendly info that you might not know about. Sorry I aggravated you so much with one little comment. Geez
