jennmaybe Posted October 3, 2018 #26 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Ok, so I have a question. It has been years since we've sailed on Carnival (last cruise with them was terrible), but, my daughter wants to do a short 3-day for her 21st birthday in Feb and Carnival was our only option due to time frame and dates. I'm sure things have changed, but I have now noticed something in 2 posts that I'm curious about..... Do they no longer give you the S&S cards at check-in?? Rare jam19872016 Posted October 3, 2018 Author #28 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Hubby and I are taking this cruise in Dec!! Can’t wait to read the rest!! Great start thank you! Thanks for reading along! Thanks for the review. You're welcome.
Rare jam19872016 Posted October 3, 2018 Author #29 Share Posted October 3, 2018 I had the best service ive had on any ship aboard the Liberty. I think a lot of it has to do with the majority of people who sail on it are first timers so they want to get them back. Loved it though For me I would say Splendor. But I did have very good service on the Liberty. Was the band Powerline still on the ship? They were on the ship in August and were one of the best bands I have heard on Carnival. Liberty is one of our favorite ships. We have another cruise on her in November. They were still there. I did all my music listening in the Casino so I believe I missed them but probably heard them in passing when going through the atrium. Everyone I heard was really good. Rare jam19872016 Posted October 3, 2018 Author #30 Share Posted October 3, 2018 After muster was sail away. I thought about doing it on my balcony, but to get a full view I went to the observation deck at the front of the ship. If sail away was a contest, Miami wins hands down of the ports I've sailed from. Totally Agree!!!!!!!!!!!! I dread the longer drive to Miami but sailaway is amazing! I will have my shot at a Miami sailaway later this month :D Thanks for sharing. Drinks look good. Sent from my iPhone using Forums When I saw my picture of The Perfect Storm I swear I could taste it again! So yummy. On a side note, been lurking on RCCL some the last couple days cause I'm thinking of trying them out next year and I found your reviews! Very fun read! Rare jam19872016 Posted October 3, 2018 Author #31 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Thank you for your honest review! It's refreshing to read. We will be on the Liberty during Halloween week. It should be a blast! I have been on the Valor before, so they should be alike. My boss will be on that same cruise. Then I saw you were from Florida and for a minute I was worried you were my boss. Then I saw your cruise history and realized you were not her. Thank goodness hehe. The ships are pretty much twins just with a different interior design. I will have a ship tour with lots of pics of her inside soon :D If I can ask a silly question.... When u dine alone do they give u a table by urself or with other solo cruiser? My DH refuses to go to MDR. I may like to try it and i wouldnt mind dining with other solo diners. We do have my tine dining request not sure if that makes a difference. We arent picky eaters, hes always happy with the buffet. They sat me by myself. That is my preference but I would imagine you could ask to be sat with someone else but I think the challenge would be the hostess may be unsure which other solo wishes to dine with others. Fixed dining would probably be easier to be sat with someone else. But either way, the tables are very very close together so even if you are sat alone, there will be people practically on top of you still lol. No. When the process works correctly it will be in your mailbox outside your cabin in a tamper evident envelope. With my last minute upgrade it threw a wrench in process but for 99.999% of the time it has been a much better process. On my last NCL cruise I was reminded of the extra step there used to be and while security was a breeze, the line for check-in stretched forever, I was so thankful I had priority for booking with the casino. That long line is now eliminated on ships with this new process and you are on the ship quicker than ever. Great review....we will be sailing the Liberty for Thanksgiving on a 3 day. Have a great cruise :)

This is going to sound silly, but if it's tamper evident, how do we get into it? Thank you for responding. I just like to know what to expect when getting on the ship. :)

I just like to know what to expect when getting on the ship. :) It is different but so much more efficient. It has a tab that you rip open to get your card out but this way if someone else were to get into it before you, you would know. That does not actually happen, I was just mentioning it because some people who do not care for the new system insist the ship is crawling with people out to steal their cards which really does not make any sense. Even if there are dishonest people (and there are) the risk of getting caught is literally 100% and in addition to the normal jail time associated with theft, there is getting the boot from the cruise vacation they paid for. It would just not be worth it for even the most reckless criminal.

ProgRockCruiser Posted October 5, 2018 #37 Share Posted October 5, 2018 They still give you your cards at check in Not at Canaveral, since about Jan/Feb 2018. I believe all US Carnival ports are now fully switched over, but maybe one or two linger with the old system.

GAMOM4 Posted October 7, 2018 #40 Share Posted October 7, 2018 After sail away I got a Cucumber Sunrise from the Alchemy Bar. I did have to ask for a straw but it was supplied with no trouble. I took my drink and enjoyed it out on my balcony where there was a whale tail reflecting in the water. I love the Cucumber Sunrise!

It has been several years since we sailed with them. Thank you for the responses!! :) You're welcome, and as a couple other people verified, Port. Canaveral is indeed on the new system of cards being outside your room. Please Come back and finish your review! We sail in Dec and was enjoying the read!! Sorry I'm a little slow sometimes :D Gonna post a little more now then finish up when the boards are back up - I guess they are going to be read only for a couple days. Rare jam19872016 Posted October 8, 2018 Author #44 Share Posted October 8, 2018 Ship Tour: While staying on the ship in Nassau I took a picture tour of the Carnival Liberty to help give you a feel for the inside of the ship. Starting at the bottom, Decks 1-2 are passenger cabins. We next move up to deck 3. All the way forward is the Venetian Palace which is the main show lounge on the ship. It spans decks 3, 4, and 5 fwd. Also located on this deck is the Shore Excursions Desk. Guest Services. The main lobby area. This is also where you board the ship at. Rare jam19872016 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #45 Share Posted October 9, 2018 There are some doors off to the side that lead to an outdoor promenade area that is excellent for taking in views and listening to the sounds of the oceans. Usually very few people around also. The view looking up. Next was the Golden Olympian which is one of two MDRs. It is two levels with the bottom level for YTD and the top level being used for traditional dining.
Rare jam19872016 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #46 Share Posted October 9, 2018 Right before you reach the MDR there are two small rooms off to each side. The Persian Room. Opposite it, was the Satin Room which is the Art Gallery. This is where things seem to get tricky. You cannot get from Deck 3 Mid to Deck 3 Aft. First you must go up a deck and then back down, or vice versa. This is because the Galley is located here and so you must use another deck. At the end of Deck 3 and 4 is the Silver Olympian Dining Room.
Rare jam19872016 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #47 Share Posted October 9, 2018 Moving from back to front now, next we come to The Cabinet. I believe this used to be a cigar bar. This is a very quiet out of the way place during the day. There is music and drinks during the evening. It was closed for a private function, so I have included old pictures from the last time I sailed this ship. Stairs leading up to the Promenade deck. Tapestry Conference Room. Then we are at the upper level of the Golden Olympian dining room.
Rare jam19872016 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #48 Share Posted October 9, 2018 Passing through the dining room, you have Circle "C" which is the club for 12-14 year olds. Taken from a very bad angle because there were people inside. Next, you come to the area where they display the photos that they take of you around the ship. When they are open they will be displayed on those big empty boards. The library. Moving up to deck 5, the Promenade deck. This is the deck where most of the inside action is. Of course all the way forward is the top level of the theater. Then we move on to the shops. They were doing some sort of renovations and half the shops did not open until the last day. Lots of seating up here.
Rare jam19872016 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #49 Share Posted October 9, 2018 Very gorgeous decorations through this area. Absolutely mesmerizing. Looking down to the lobby. Cherry on Top candy store. The hours the shops are open. One of the shops open this cruise.
Rare jam19872016 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #50 Share Posted October 9, 2018 Sports Bar. Casino. Casino Bar. I've only found this machine on Liberty. I love this game and wish I could find it on another ship. Promenade with a great seating area to people watch and listen to music in the evenings. Just past the casino, you fill wind the future cruise desk.
