Cruise from San Diego to Vancouver...any good?

We'll have to take our chances on the repo cruise still being there for May 2007. My husband, kids and I are doing a land trip to Africa to visit my parents this July so...unless I convince my hubby to take a short cruise in September!

Thanks for the updates on the bathrooms on the train. With my 3 kids...we'll need a bathroom of our own!

We are looking at the Serenade May 21st, the intinerary looks great!!! After reading everyone's comments....I am not sure, because of high seas.

For those that experienced the high seas, were a lot of people sick? Was it really all that bad, or just a little rocky?

The Radiance Class ships handle the seas quite well. We have sailed the coast 5 times on various size ships. We will be taking the Serenade up the coast this May.

DH and I should be booking the Radience repo in the next few days (just trying to clear his vacation). Looking forward to another cruise - we couldnt wait til Dec for another turn at Eastern Carib so figured this one would be fun. Only thing that concerns me is the wave action and temps since I'm used to Carib or Mex Riviera but we love being on a ship and will have fun regardless.

One question - since most of the cruise is up the US Coast how does that affect the casinos, or is it open since they stay in international waters unless near port?

We do the northbound repositioning cruise on a Princess ship out of LA every year. The seas are usually fine at least until San Francisco, then it can get bumpy. Not 13 foot waves, but enough so that you really know you're on a ship! I've found that popping ginger Altoids keeps my stomach nice & calm.

Last May the sea was like glass all the way north, and it was fantastic. The whales were migrating with us, and we saw more of them on the trip north than we did on the whale watching tour we took! The weather was pleasant, too. We did get some rain while in Vancouver, but since we're from LA it was a refreshing change for us.

You're right about the whales...One of my friends actually saw some whales on the ferry ride from Vancouver to Victoria but only saw one whale on her whale watching trip...which was the reason she was taking the ferry in the first place!

Hopefully the weather will cooperate for those of you taking the trip from LA to Vancouver in May. We've had 2 days of sunshine (scattered with rain of course...) but the last week previously was straight rain. You'd think that I'd be used to it by now... Oh well...time to bask under my desk lamp at work to try to simulate warm weather!

I keep looking on the RCCL website for the May 2007 onwards sailings...hoping to catch a repo for May 2007 as soon as it shows up! However, I am only finding cruises up to April of 2007. Any idea when they usually start listing for after April 2007?

Usually in or around April.... just keep checking the website... they usually rollout out the itineraries a few ships at a time, so I generally start looking for new sailings during that time frame for any ship, knowing that the others will soon follow.

BTW... the pricing on these cruises for May is awesome! It keeps going down, so if you are booked you may want to check for a price reduction and call RCCL. And if you were toying with the idea of going.... check it out... these prices may make it worth it! :)

I know what you mean...I was originally looking at a repo from Vancouver back to San Diego in September when they first became available...going for around 299.00 for an inside cabin at the time. Now, they're up there in price! Oh well, you snooze you lose!

Unfortunately, I won't be able to take advantage of the great deals for the repo this May...too many other vacations already planned this year! But the deals are just sooooo tempting!:D
