beachcruiser2 Posted October 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2018 Looking for a few pieces of sea glass we can bring back home to add/make a windchime. Are there any beaches sea glass washes up on? Appreciate the help.
shipgeeks Posted October 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2018 I don't know the answer to that, but you might find that you would be prohibited from taking it off the island. Our onboard dailies usually carry a note to the effect that sand, shells, etc. may not be taken onto the ship from local beaches.
beachcruiser2 Posted October 20, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted October 20, 2018 I would also like to purchase a sea glass bracelet or jewelry. Looking for any recommendations?
CntPAcruiser Posted October 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2018 The only island we have ever found sea glass on has been St. Croix. I don't recall seeing sea glass jewelry in the shops on St. Kitts.
beachcruiser2 Posted October 29, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted October 29, 2018 Yes, we have seen and purchased sea glass in St. Croix. Was hoping some of the other islands also had sea glass wash onto their beaches. If it could be found on the beaches, it would most likely be made into a craft or jewelry by the locals. Thanks CntPAcruiser for the information.
KatPem Posted January 18, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2019 We have found lots of Sea Glass on St Kitts. Our first time going there (we had read about it somewhere), we were a bit nervous and it seemed a bit shady. Having done it a few times now, we realize that it is absolutely fine. If you head out of the port area to the road, you will take a left. Follow that road about 10 minutes past the bus station. It will continue on along the bay. While it is not a 'beach' nor clean, there has always been sea glass to find. Even at high tide we found a good amount that had washed up on the sidewalk. Last two times there wasn't as much as the first time but definately take a ziplock baggie or two, you can find some nice frosted pieces in varying colors. Our first time there was the absolute best. There were a couple of local children about age 5 or 6 that were helping us collect and were very, very sweet. A highlight for sure!
