Choosing a Stateroom via Online Website

Possibly others may be able to answer this question comprehensively.

Every cruise ship has a variety staterooms. For the most part they are categorized as Interior, Oceanview, Balcony, Suite. However, there are quite a few different types of staterooms in each category. However, the websites only give you choices from these 4 categories.  As an example, there are differing types of Oceanview types. Standard Oceanview, Extra Large Oceanview, Scenic Oceanview, etc. But, there is no way to pick anything but a Standard Oceanview. Yes, you can pick one with portholes, or Obstructed, or Accessible. But, you can't pick the Large Oceanview or the Scenic Oceanview, etc. This holds true for the other classifications for most ships. The Oasis class ships do allow you to book a number of different types within classifications. Have not seen this capability with other ships. Does this mean that you have to call the cruise line or TA in order to determine the availability, pricing, and deck plan for any stateroom that does not conform to the 4 categories listed?
