Carnival Inspiration Dry Dock Update

I've seen a few posts here and there asking about what's happening in dry dock for Carnival Inspiration. Since my husband and I are sailing in January, we were excited to know there'd be a dry dock this month and were curious what we could expect. I had asked around and found out they're putting in more permanent sushi station (rather than the temporary one that has seemed to be there) as well as routine maintenance.

I found a video today online showing more of the dry dock. Thought I'd share in case anybody's interested. Looks like it's getting a slight facelift and everything should look updated, on top of getting a Bonsai Sushi.

It has come out of dry dock, I think yesterday. I saw on the cruise ship tracker it was just south of San Francisco yesterday afternoon and is now in Long Beach so there will be passengers boarding in a few hours that may post about the updates.

Wife and I sail Dec 3, 2018.

I just came off a cruise on Inspiration pre-dry dock back in September (had a ball!😁) but will be on her again June 2019. And while Inspiration showed herself to be aging for the most part, gracefully, I am looking forward to being on the receiving end of the upgrades to make a comparison albeit still 6 months away.

Would love to hear others'  opinions on the refurb with pics welcomed.🙂

I’d love to hear as well! If i don’t find anything by my cruise on January 14th, I’ll be sure to come back and update. Though i have no comparisons to before.

Have gone on the Inspiration and Imagination out of LB many times . . . Have a cruise planned for the Panorama in January 2020, but always like to "sandwich" in a cruise or two in between the longer cruises. Looking forward to booking the Inspiration again, soon. Hurrah for the Fantasy Class of Carnival ships, the ones that got Carnival  on the map in the first place.

Any update?

No major renovations, but the rooms seem to be redone (at least the bathrooms), including some public space bathrooms (the one near the main dining room seems very modern and new). The video above showed a re-done pool. It was raining so we didn't use it much, so can't speak to it. They added a Bonsai Sushi permanent station. I've read many reviews about how Inspiration felt dated and old. We didn't feel that way at all --- hopefully that's due to the Dry Dock.

I did post a trip report that mentions a bit about the condition of the ship and some of the dry dock features. You can read a lot more in detail here:

We sailed on the Inspiration in December. The purple tubes are gone in the buffet area. New bedding (no more orange piece of fabric at end of bed) and new carpeting. Our cabin had new bathroom update. Floor was white instead of blue and new shower curtain.

I just finished your trip report Jan 19th. Thank you so much. Very well done. It helped me tremendously. I took this trip twice in the MS Holiday in 1997 and 1998. My brain was really curious what may be different, and your report put me at ease. Thanks again.
