Jan the City Fan Posted November 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2018 Just booked a back 2 back cruise on Celebration in March next year, will be our 6th cruise but 1st for Marella. We usually go mid ship, inside around deck 5/6/7 on other cruises I paid £48 to reserve a cabin, had to be inside on deck 3 or 4 for the price. I booked deck 4 cabin 343, but having second thoughts now. The cabin looks like it is below the casino, has anyone had any experience of cabins near there. There is quite a lot mid ship on deck 3 so was wandering if I should change. Also my partner is a fussy eater & we like to eat in the main restraunt in the evening. On other cruises he just has Steak & chips every night, is it likely that they will do that if its not on the menu. He also drinks mostly Cider , is that available in the bars. Lastly the flight times are very tight, due to arrive in Barbados at 17.45 & due to sail at 20.00. Has anyone any experience of similar problem. Thanks in advance. newbiewaves Posted November 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2018 (edited) Hi if the flights are part of the cruise then the ship will not go before everyone arrives. Cruisers seem to get whisked through customs on arrival and off on the coach before you can catch breath (Jamaica) as your luggage goes straight to the ship. Steaks would be available at the premium restaurants (extra charge). Food wise when we were on the Dream we were spoilt for choice and you can check out the main menu and the buffet then decide...maybe gently nudge him into expanding his menu 🙂 Lunchtimes he can always have a burger lol Think cider (strongbow) is available if you are on all inclusive you should be ok. Personally I would switch to deck 3 then you are between relatively quiet decks. We only had choice of decks 1 or 2 for December and took a 2 outside midships. Previously we were below the card room on Dream so quiet. Also depends on the cruise demographics as cant say our Xmas cruise in 2016 was full of noisy people keen on losing cash in the casino.....plus you will have mostly British passengers and less Americans hoping for Las Vegas stakes...not saying we are tight but....lollllll Oh and we arrive Malaga 17.25 and it says ship sails 18.00! and 'latest ship check-in time is 2 hrs berfore sailing' erm....okay............. Jan the City Fan Posted November 19, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted November 19, 2018 Thanks, I think I will see if I can swap to deck 3 . I had heard on here the ship would wait. Good luck with yours
newbiewaves Posted November 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2018 Lol yup be a bit daft if they left their own passengers behind! Ports of call are a different matter though where there is some advantage to booking ships excursions for peace of mind they will wait if you have a stressy nature (like me)
davecttr Posted November 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2018 Deck 4 should be fine, on decks 3 and below you may end up near the engines and you want to avoid that. I have never noticed a casino onboard as generating much noise, even at xmas!
Rare dronnygirl Posted November 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2018 We have stayed on deck 4 in an outside cabin near to yours. Lovely quiet cabin and very handy for reception and the MDR. We once stayed on deck 3 forward, never again it was very noisy early in the morning when docking. I'd stick with deck 4. Enjoy😊

Manchester is blue Posted November 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2018 (edited) Hi Jan. We sailed fairly recently on the Celebration and had a cabin midships on deck 3. Whilst it was very close to the water line, it was blissfully quiet and we slept extremely well. cant comment on the cider, as I'm a lager man myself, although you shouldn't worry about flight arrival times, providing your flight is with TUi.....they will not sail without you. Up the blues ! Edited November 21, 2018 by Manchester is blue Typo error
Jan the City Fan Posted November 21, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted November 21, 2018 Thanks Manchester is Blue , CTID. Booked the cruise with the games in mind, we only miss Fulham away & maybe an F A cup game . Hope some more Blues on our cruise. Jan
Katomerikaf Posted November 22, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 22, 2018 I am a cider drinker and have been ok on AI onboard Discovery and Celebration. in the main dining room there is a menu each night which changes daily. I know that if there isn't anything you like there is also a couple of permanent other options including chicken breast but not sure what else.
