Help with my first cruise from New Orleans in 1988

Hi cruisers. The week before Easter in 1988, my parents took me on a week long cruise with stops in Key West and Cozumel. Since I was 8 years old at the time, I don't know any more details than those. My parents seem to think it was a Carnival ship, but I can't find proof of a Carnival ship being based in New Orleans in 1988. Does anyone have any more info on which ship I probably went on? Thanks.

Did a little quick detective work and came up with this. Not positive it's the ship your looking for but the article does say it was sailing out of New Orleans during the 1987-88 season sailing to Key West, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen with Saturday departures between November 14 and April 29, 1988.

I believe you are correct in the above info...THE CANADA STAR.  She was the ex SS Brasil.  The name Brazil was spelled Brasil at the request of the Portuguese ambassador.  

 

The name of the sister ship (ex SS Argentina) at that time was was Bermuda Star.

 

I believe these two ships had more names in their sailing history than any other ships in history.
