In cabin television

We just returned from our annual Thanksgiving cruise on the Dream with extended family. We have booked our 2019 on the Magic. On the Dream, we had very few channels in cabin. There were none of the local channels (ABC, CBS, or NBC).We did have CNN in 3 different variations and languages and TNT in spanish and TBS in spanish and the Free movie channel. In the past, my2 year old  niece has used a firestick to watch her shows in the morning and afternoons but we could not get the input to change on the TV. Has anyone else experienced this? Is that thenew norm?

Carnival sharply reduced their TV subscriptions because the satellite owners increased the price. They pay per channel, per cabin. Many people were not watching those channels anyhow. In the near future they will be offering pay per view channels (mostly sports) charged to your account.

The hospitality TV's in the cabins are programmed by Carnival with the channels and labels available, and the inputs are disabled so you cannot change them on your own, even if you have a full remote. The TV's are locked with a password. The main reason is to prevent trouble calls because the TV is looking at the HDMI input instead of the cable, and they want to sell you TV programs.

how did you change inputs, HDMI would only work if you unplugged Carnival's ethernet cord which brings you ships info, and then change inputs to HDMI. What you are saying won't even work at home unless you change inputs.
