Just How Crowded is Bruges in the Summer?

I'd love to visit Bruges via river cruise but the only time I could do it would be very end of May.  I realize that there will be quite a few tourists and I don't mind standing in reasonable lines (not planning on a museum visit, mostly just want to walk around) but will this be a nightmare I will regret?  Are there some other less chaotic choices for a river cruise in Europe?  Looking for a short (3 or 4 night) cruise.  Thanks so much for any advice!

We were there on a port stop, on a ship's tour, but we did not find it particularly crowded.   think we were there very late April or early May...EM

We also had a port stop and did a Bruges walking tour in June 2014. Had no issues with congestion.

Have visited many many times, not crowded at all.

 

The only pinch-point can be for the canal cruises, so if the line is short when you arrive in Bruges join it then.

(There are several embarkation points, all boats from all embarkation points follow the same circular route & cost the same)

 We were there during the first week of June and didn't find it particularly crowded.
