Speightstown or Holetown?

Why not see them both?

Between the transport board buses, the mini buses and the ZR vans (fun!) you won’t wait more than 30 minutes for transport on the west coast during the week. Probably closer to 10-15 minutes.

I’d take any of the three to Holetown and stay a while then take another to Speightstown. After touring Speightstown you can head 5-10 minutes south to either Mullins Beach or Gibbes Beach (one of the best on the island).

When you’re ready to return, simply catch one of the three busses heading south and in 30-45 minutes you’ll be back at Deep Water Harbour (cruise terminal).

An easy deal plus a fun, inexpensive day.

No, you do not have to go to the bus station.

Simply leave the cruise terminal, walk through the gatehouse out to Spring Garden Highway and stand by the side of the road.  Soon you’ll see buses stating “out of town” in the lower left of their windshield.  Ask the driver if this is the right bus for you.

You can ask anyone there if you are in the right spot as everyone is very friendly.

No worries!

That first shot is Holetown Bay

looking South from Folkestone Park beach from under the trees.

Holetown is more visitor-oriented than Speightstown is

but don't let that stop you from visiting Speightstown

where you may get a bit more of the real Barbados.

The other five shots are all Speightstown, in evening light.

Thanks all !!

We went up to Speightstown by authority bus and really enjoyed the drive up there seeing local communities and then on through the more touristy areas.

We had a good wander around and had a drink overlooking one of the beaches.

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours as the only people on the beach on the northern outskirts of town next to a pricey looking restaurant and also near to a property that we are sure was on 'Place in the Sun' a while back!

We got a very busy yellow mini bus back into Bridgetown which was very enjoyable and with the loudest soca music we have ever heard pounding out of the speakers! Some people on the bus even managed to have a sleep on the way !

Great day !

I just found out about Holetown and Speightstown in Barbados.  Would it be better to take a Taxi there, or it was mentioned about once you walk out the gate, to get a bus.  What is the cost of the bus, and does it make several stops, or just to these two places?  As you can guess, this is new to me. 🙂
