location is Cape Canaveral which is the city to port (a business entity) is in

Been there, done that, don't recommend it. It's a madhouse trying to drop them off at the exact same time the people debarking are picking theirs up. Slamming your finger in a car door is far less painful. Take the shuttle, enjoy the ride.

We typically stay in Orlando and drop the rental off the morning of the cruise.  While it may be busy, we've never experienced a madhouse.  YMMV

some days Port Canav has one small ship turning around and the load on the rental companies is light

 

some day PC sees 4 BIGGIES .....

 

many ports are close to major airports and have rental car facilities to match ... not so in PC .... the rental offices are relatively small

 

suggestion ... check the port schedule to find out what/how many ships will turn around when you plan to play rental car roulette
