Naples on Explorer 2

Hi we have Explorer 2 booked in May i would like to know if we can visit Sorrento when we arrive to the ship at lunchtime before we set sail at 6pm? Wondered best way to get a visit in before we set sail has anyone else done this so basically suitcases into cabin and out to explore it is one of the places we really want to see but no excursion as its on 1st day and last day hope someone can help thanks  Sue

Nobody knows how boarding will work at Naples as Marella have never had a ship based there. If you are actually arriving at the ship at noon allow a hour to complete all the procedures and you will have to be aboard for muster drill before sailing, say another hour. that leaves you with just 4 hours to get to Sorrento and back and if there is trouble with the fast ferry on your return journey the ship won't wait for you.

How far do you think it is from the airport to the cruise terminal.

 

I know the bus ride from the docks to Sorrento is around an hour depending on traffic.
