Carnival Dream - Railings and kids

I’ll be taking my first cruise with a child in a couple of months aboard the Carnival Dream. He is an energetic five year old, and I wonder if there are certain decks that I should avoid all together or take extra caution due to open-style railings with large gaps.

We've taken our daughter on Carnival with us when she was 14 months and 3 years old. She is also very active and loves to climb and run everywhere. I never felt there was anywhere unsafe on the ship for her. We booked a balcony cabin both times and she loved playing out there (but never unattended). That being said, we always kept a very close eye on her everywhere we went. Ships are just busy in general and it would be easy to lose a small child in a crowd somewhere esp. one who loves to run off and "hide". If you keep close tabs on your kiddo, he will be fine!
