SeaTheW0rld Posted February 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2019 Hey all. I'm trying to decide if I need an internet package for my transatlantic cruise. We have quite a few ports where I'll have at least slow data and text included. Most will have phone, too. I think I can probably due without on the 9 sea days (despite how much I post here). I understand the packages. Can one buy smaller amounts? How much? Thanks!

Does it mean you can check email (multiple accounts) and something like facebook?
XLVIII Posted February 23, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2019 We're on Divina now. Purchased 3.5 GB for $70 (pre cruise). Good for email, Facebook, Google and WhatsApp. Don't think you could watch videos. We've been checking email, whatsapping and googling each day and seems fine for us. Nice that it's by GB and not by time. Haven't had any problems connecting.

kevinrobedm Posted February 23, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2019 Netflix did not work for me when we were on the Seaview in November of last year. It did say in the packages that video streaming was supported. Maybe this has changed since November but it did not work for me.

IDK if it works for all countries, but in the USA Netflix allows one to download a lot of content to a mobile device. The only limit is the amount of storage on your device. kevinrobedm Posted February 25, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 25, 2019 Yes we can do that in Canada to. I do download a number of shows from Netflix to my IPAD so I can watch them offline (without being connected to the internet).
stijnhommes Posted February 25, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2019 What is the point of 3.5 GB if you can't stream anything. There is no chance in hell I can use all those GBs with just text.
neptuno Posted February 27, 2019 #11 Share Posted February 27, 2019 For us simple folks, who don't need to stream at sea, the Tmobile "simple choice" plan gives us free data and text all around the world, including "welcome to Italy" aboard MSC! thetaro Posted February 27, 2019 #12 Share Posted February 27, 2019 I don't bother with the slow internet on the ship. I have Google Fi which gives me high speed data in a lot of countries. I only use it when I travel.and pause the plan when I get back home.
