Bidding on an upgrade after paying for an upgrade outright - can it be done?

I just called my TA to upgrade from an interior room to a balcony. It was actually cheaper than what I had previously bid! Before upgrading, I did cancel my bids.

Anyways, now that I’m in a balcony, I figured I’d go ahead and put minimum bids on another upgrade, because you never know. When I went to go place the bids, my three options were the OLD options from

when I had the interior room, which are basically the balcony, balcony with spa pass, and ocean view. That’s not helpful.

Is this normal? Do they not allow you to bid on a real upgrade after you’ve upgraded?

I turn to the collective wisdom of Cruise Critic to calm my nerves. 😉

When do you sail? I have paid for an upgrade while in the bidding process in the past and it took about 2-3 days (if my memory serves me correctly) for the new upgrade options to show. If you have at least a few days before sailing you should be able to bid.
