Rare CCWineLover Posted March 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2019 I had queried CruiseCritic a few days ago regarding: 1. Having issues with newly added Roll Calls not appearing in the Roll Call list (of Viking and or a specific Ship), that you can scroll through. 2. Asking whether Multiple Roll Calls should or should not be opened for a ship with multiple segments (such as with Viking Orion). Here is the response. 1. "Thanks for writing. Recently there has been a malfunction with the roll call tool and new roll calls are not being added. Our tech team is working on a fix. We will update the announcement on the right side of the forum page when the tool is up and running properly. In the meantime you can find your roll call the “old fashioned” way – by searching for ship’s forum for a topic title that includes your sail date." 2. "Regarding multi-segment sailings, most folks like having a roll call for their segments, and it's okay for them to be set up for each segment so those participating in only part of the voyage can enjoy the fun. Otherwise, many folks never realize that a roll call actually includes their sailing. Thank you for your patience. Rare Peregrina651 Posted March 4, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2019 I have never been a fan of the new "Find your roll call" tool because it has never been completely accurate and causes multiple roll calls to be started for the same departure. Very confusing. If I am on a sailing that combines itineraries, I will participate in all of the roll calls--or at least, follow them. The idea is to meet the people who you will be sailing with and I don't want to exclude anyone just because they booked a different itinerary. Besides which we are all going to be at the same Meet and Mingle party. When I go to a roll call, I explain that there are multiple roll calls for this sailing and why. Then I post links to all of the roll calls involved so that people can easily find them.

I like having multiple roll calls for a multi-segment trip - which helps keep everyone involved and able to participate! Just glad that CruiseCritic gave their thumbs up to this practice (as I have seen some past posts trying to combine all the segments into one massive Roll Call, which I wouldn't like). Again - appreciate your veteran experience!

Again - appreciate your veteran experience! There are times to micro-manage and this isn't one of them. Whether we have the CC stamp of approval or not, this is how it has evolved. River cruisers took matters into their own hands and started roll calls by itinerary and year when they realized that single departure date roll calls were unsustainable--and sometimes even roll calls by itinerary are unsustainable. It is all about the conversation. Edited March 6, 2019 by Peregrina651
