Depends on what you mean by "are you covered"?

Are you covered and will you be reimbursed? Most likely be covered for rooms and meals associated with the delay.

Travel insurance is  reimbursement based. You have to pay up front, then at the end of your trip, you file a claim. It is up to you to have proof of delay documentation and all receipts.

Your best bet in this situation is to have called the travel insurance company, explain your situation, then comply with their guidance.

This exact situation happened to a poster. He decided to rent a car and drive the family home. Even though he saved the insurance company money, his claim was denied. He hadn't called first and worked it out all the options with the insurance company.

If a flight is cancelled due to weather, you don't need insurance, they are required to rebook you. We would never let anyone book our flights. we want to know layover time and seat selection

"Carnival" and "Insurance" means nothing. There is no such thing as Carnival Insurance.

Carnival sells a product that is insurance, and yes, they negotiated some special terms,,,, but the Insurance is managed by and underwritten by a separate company. When you have a claim or think you may have a claim,,, you would contact the insurance company themselves, not Carnival.

It was going to be two days before they could get another flight! Rented a car & now submitting to insurance.

Unless the insurance company pre-approved it, you may be SOL. But, good luck. Also be prepared to prove that you didn't receive some sort of flight credit to be used in the future.

Who is they? There are many flights to everywhere every day. I hope you called the airline and not Carnival. You should have been already ticketed
