CDP Cruiser Posted March 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Can someone confirm that the walls in the staterooms on the Zaandam are magnetic? I was on the Veendam last May and they were no longer magnetic. Thanks!
catl331 Posted March 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2019 (edited) You need strong magnets to hold much weight on the walls. Google "rare earth magnets". Also, magnets will stick better to the ceilings than the walls. Edited March 6, 2019 by catl331
CruisetheGlobe Posted April 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2019 Newbie to cruising, but given ship construction it may depend on your cabin location. Higher cabins tend to have lighter metals and compounds to preserve center of gravity, while lower cabins tend to have more steel.

I had a large map and was able to hang it with magnets on the ceiling. Had to do that on the Amsterdam too. Both were Alaska cruises and liked having my big Alaska Map. What I use for cabins that are not magnetic, I get removable hanging putty. Works great for putting my calendar and other info on the walls. AryMay Posted April 4, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2019 We have spent 45 days on the Zaandam in the past year (two different cruises) and found the only place where magnets really stuck was the outside wall.
