SakeDad Posted March 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2019 (edited) We are cruising Royal Caribbean Dubai to Singapore in May. I hear it's very hot and humid. We don't plan on doing any formal nights but are doing 2 pre-nights in Dubai and 5 post in Singapore. Are slacks and button down shirts sufficient for "dressier" times or do we need a sports coat too? Daytime will be shorts and Hawaiian shirts the whole way....any tips on port days? We are thinking a pair of shorts with zipper attached long legs. Thanks Edited March 15, 2019 by Host Bonjour spelling in topic title
Rare mom says Posted March 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2019 It's not very hot and humid. It's extremely hot and humid. As in you don't walk out the door without adequate sun protection and a bottle of water. A nice shirt and slacks are sufficient in the evening. During the day, be aware of the need for respectful dress if visiting inside mosques or temples. That means (especially for mosques) long pants (or a long skirt for women) and covered shoulders (short sleeves for men, women need long sleeves and a head scarf for mosques). Temples usually require you to remove your shoes- bring an extra pair of socks. Other than that, shorts are fine- just not super short shorts. And fashion aside, I can't overstress how strong the sun is. Keep your shoulders covered and wear a broad brimmed hat.

Men, women and children walk around with washcloths or small towels on their shoulders everywhere to wipe off the non-stop sweat. 4 showers a day are not unheard of.
