Vancouver transportation options

We are staying at the Day's Inn Vancouver airport the night before our cruise out of Canada Place.  This hotel is very close to the Bridgeport light rail station (Sky train).  We plan to walk to this station from our hotel (unless they will shuttle us to the station) and catch the train to Canada Place on a Saturday morning.  Is this a reasonable option?  Can we buy tickets for the train with a credit card, since I'm not planning to get any Canadian dollars?  How long will it take to get to the waterfront from Bridgeport?  Is it an easy walk to the cruise ship from the train station downtown?  Any other advice?

Our flight doesn't arrive until about 8 PM the evening before the cruise and staying at an airport hotel is far cheaper than any other options I've found.  We have been to Vancouver before, so we don't plan any "sightseeing".  Just want to get from an airport hotel to cruise port in the least expensive way.

Yes to all your questions, except for 'how long' - that will be abouit 23mins on the train.

Expanding: you can each just tap a different Visa or MC with a RFID chip on the gates to open them - tap again at Waterfront station when you exit and you'll be charged the correct amount ($4.20pp on weekends). If you don't have 2 credit cards with chips, you'll have to use the ticket machine to buy paper Compass Tickets (costs the same). At the other end, head directly up into the lobby of Waterfront station, then out the many glass doors between large pillars. Turn right, walk along Cordova very slightly uphill to Howe, turn right again and you'll arrive at the pier. There is an all-underground route but it's much harder to figure out as well as longer.

Your hotel shuttle should drop you at the station if you ask nicely, but if not you're aiming for the River Rock hotel as a landmark until you can see the actual SkyTrain station.

The only other thing I would recommend is to use the "Granville St" exit (the end of the platform the train just entered from) at Waterfront station, and don't go into the tunnel.  This places you at the corner of Granville and West Hastings, and it's an easier, downhill walk (3 blocks) to Canada Place, vs exiting from Waterfront station itself (which is still 3 blocks, but uphill on narrower sidewalks)
