Changelatitudes Posted March 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2019 We are going to be on Jewel of the Seas in June and checking for feedback on the earliest we should plan a return flight? I see that RCI's Air2Sea flights are scheduled for 11:15 but I plan on booking my own as they seemed fairly expensive. The flights become more limited to get home same day the later it gets. TIA for the feedback!
CruiserBruce Posted March 25, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2019 If you look on the Italy board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/464-italy-ports/ where this is discussed very regularly ( as it is a ground logistics issue as much as anything), 10:30 is the earliest recommended flight. The problem is that quite frequently the flights get bumped back. It seems that typically the planes are arriving at FCO between 7 and 8 from the US...as time passes, they book earlier departures for that same plane back home. Good chance this 11:15 flight could evolve to a 10:30 flight. Not sure the cruise line will guarantee you can make that flight, if you book through them, or use cruise line transfers. Means you need to get your own transport to FCO. Doable...
Fairgarth Posted March 31, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2019 Bear in mind that the port of Civitavecchia is a long way from FCO.
Voelfgar Posted April 3, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2019 I'm doing a cruise starting July 3rd and for our return flight, I am flying out at 11:15am. That puts me in Detroit at 3:37pm. I wouldn't do anything earlier than that.
