vlanderson2 Posted March 25, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2019 Hi all! I've never been on a cruise but on a whim NY sister and I decided to take my mom on am Alaskan cruise this summer for her birthday. After research I found mid ship, lower deck is best for minimal swaying. But I never thought of the engine noise! Did I make a bad choice to begin with before I even thought about noise? Any input/comments are so appreciated!
Rare Essiesmom Posted March 25, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2019 You will not be close to any engines. You do realize that one of you will be sleeping in an upper bunk? EM
vlanderson2 Posted March 25, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted March 25, 2019 The stateroom says it's one bed. But I'm rooming with my twin sister and she was actually disappointed it wasn't bunks 😂
cb at sea Posted March 25, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2019 There are MANY decks BELOW the lowest passenger deck. No worries at all about "engine noise"!

And is it an inside or an oceanview (OV) cabin? EM Edited March 25, 2019 by Essiesmom
vlanderson2 Posted March 25, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted March 25, 2019 My sister and I have our own room and my mom will be next door in her own room. We are in an inside stateroom. I have another cruise booked next summer for an ocean view but this trip just kind of came up so we went more budget friendly.
Rare Essiesmom Posted March 26, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 26, 2019 This is an inside cabin on Millie. The bed is two twins (33") pushed together to make a bed slightly wider than a queen. Unless you want to share a bed, you can have them separated, put the nightstands in the middle and have more floor space. This is an OV cabin on Summit: These both are several years old, so decor may have changed a bit...
